I was wondering if there are any (dutch) posters here that will go to The Hague on Prinsjesdag to see the royal cortege? I might be going this year (for the first time). Does anybody know what time it has finished? And what time to be there in order to get a neat place?

Thank you very much for this information Henri, the text you provided with the pictures is most insightfull! I always wondered about the escorte of HM.
I still find it a pity that they didn´t include the entire toyal house hough, preferably WITH tiara´s. The long dresses with hats look a bit weird IMO. Though tiara´s for the royals while daytime suits and hats for the female politicians do not combine well either.

I'm not familiar with how this works, but will Maxima be wearing a tiara/sashes?

And , of course, stunning hats! that's as good as seeing them in tiaras.
I'm really curious about what kind of hat the Queen will wear. I hope for an "extravagant " hat like the last years.

Sparkling jewelry is made to glitz and glam in wonderful halls illuminated by thousands lights of large crystal chandeliers.
Diademes are usually not worn during daytime events. The recent princely weddings in Brussels, Amsterdam, Madrid and Windsor were daytime affairs. You saw the ladies wear hats indeed but no long robes. The weddings in Copenhagen and Oslo started in the late afternoon/early evening and that was an appropriate time to start in evening wear (ladies with grand jewelry, gentlemen in tails).
Daytime wear means: ladies with hats and gentlemen in jacquet or uniform. This way of dressing is not typically Dutch. We have seen it in Belgium at the weddings of Albert and Baudouin, in Stockholm at the wedding of Carl XVI Gustaf, in Windsor at the wedding of Edward.

I just saw Maxima, very elegant, black skirt with white tailored jacket with a belt and a big white rose as a headpiece at the back of her chignong and giant pearls in her ears. Much classier than the last two years
The Queen wears something mossy green/brown, Margriet in bright purpel and Laurentien in pale blue (she sits like a sack of potatoes compared to Margriet) with a giant hat
Great webcast, very clear, there are some rediculos hats in the audience though
