Lech Photo Sessions: 2005-2013

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Maybe they are using the express way via Ulm and Stuttgart. Lech is closer to Münich then through Arlberg. But off topic, sorry :)

And everybody is in Lech now since yesterday HeriditaryPrincess...:)

Thanks for the info, lucien, I've only seen pictures of Willem-Alexander, Maxima and the Three Princesses at Lech in the past; I guess I need to look harder ;). It must be tough for Mabel to go back to the place where Friso had his avalanche accident; I know that if I was Mabel I'd be very cautious and protective, especially around the children.

I don't think they travel via Munich, as the route along the Rhine and then through the Arlberg-tunnel is much faster.

It's either this way or up the Rhine to Mannheim, then the High-Speed-way to Stuttgart-Ulm, then down to Lindau at the Lake of Constance and up the Rhine again till the Arlberg-railroad begins.

I mentioned Munich just to give an idea of the distance and travel-time towards the south.Btw,the wagon of the Royal train was connected to the Alps Express in Utrecht,so yes, they went via Munich and then direction Innsbruck and onwards.:)

Meanwhile in Lech, the special Holy Mass for HRH Prince Friso.

WA and Máxima were yesterday in Vienna because of the wedding of one of her brothers. Thought I post it here.

Had the train been used since the trip to Denmark for QMII's birthday party? I thought it was basically a museum piece,

Yes it has,HM used it for the opening of the Hansa railway last year.
Chances are that Willem-Alexander will make more use of it in near future.
It's sustainable,it's "green" and its fast!:)

How lovely and touching!

The church was packed and Father Müller prayed for;"Strenght for his wife, his mother, his children and the other members of the Royal family
to cope with this heavy burden".

His prayers were both in German and in Dutch for the "very ill Prince Friso".
He also asked the congregation to look after one another,to care for eachother, that doesn't only apply for the Royal Family but for each of you.

He mentioned how brave it is of the RF to come back to Lech again after all that happened.

You're right, Lucien, the waggon was indeed attached to this overnight-train to Landeck via Munich.

Found this video of the train with the Royal waggon next to the locomotive in YouTube:

DRV 13411 "Alpen-Express" mit Salonwagen der Niederländischen Königsfamilie SR10 - YouTube

I hope if they want to use it more often they'll invest a bit into more comfortable furniture, because it is too sober, not even on par with normal trains for long distance travel.

No,it's OK as it is to them,it's a very comfortable train really.
They never exaggerate, but somehow people seem to think that if it's not lined with gold and tralala it isn't Royal enough...grin....That's a bit too much really, the Orange Nassau's are not in all aspects the " If you got it Flaunt it" types at all. It's the posters here more then they themselves...lol....

Lech today:

I'm so glad queen Beatrix has such a good relation with her family. Lovely pics.

As for the Royal train: I really like the idea of Royals still having their own waggon which can be attached to regular trains in which to ride longer distances in Europe. It was quite common among the nobility and Royality pre-WW I to have their own railway waggon ( you can still see the one of king Ludwig II of Bavaria at Nuremberg traffic museum while the whole train of emperor Wilhelm II. is available as a model).

Lovely pictures of the family. They all look very happy and I do like the pictures of the Queen with the Cp couple, full of love between them which is nice to see.

Is Prince Constantijn and his family in Lech? If so, will they participate in the photoshoot?

Veeery nice pics... dream weather.....beautiful princesses.... what was the issue with Maxima, putting her arms in her hips?

Great pictures!!! There's no way you can fake such genuine warmth which we can see between the whole family!

great to see them together enjoying each other's company and having a good time! I suspect they still think of Friso every day so it is good for them to have some quality vacation time together and just to get their thoughts away from the problems for a little time! :flowers:

It might sound silly but I just love the expression on Beatrix's face in these pictures. She looks serene, happy and content. Looking at her son and his family in a way that says "they're ready". Just my two cents!

Lovely to see Queen Beatrix smiling and looking relaxed!

A good idea the Queen with the Crown Princes and not with Prince Prince Constantijn and his family. By the way is the Queen skiing ?

You mean can she ski?Oh yes,she can ski!!

She and younger sister Irene used to participate in competition / championships too,but mostly it was Irene who won then...

HM still ski's,yes! And remember, her mother used to ski well into her 80's!:)

The Queen lookes sooo relaxed, I guess, she is simply happy going to "retirement".... after seeing the Queen and also the Pope doing so, I am thinking about the "poor" other monarchs having to stay as "Captain" on board until they die. Poor guys, really, I do not envy them.

They don't have to stay on for dear life,it's up to them, and common sense in 2013AD,not BC....:)
