That is quite the interesting observation Larzen! I think it says something (good, wonderful) about Maxima that she can "check herself" as appropriate, depending on the occasion and the setting. I'm not saying that Maxima should hide her true exuberance or enthusiasm, but quite the opposite. It's great that there are times when her poised self, such as in Sweden, is allowed to shine and dominate, while at other times, such as at Queensday, her exuberance for life and boundless energy is evident, and other times, such as when she is visiting a hospital, you see how tender and solemn she can be.

I think it bodes very well for Maxima as a Crown Princess and a future queen that she is poised and elegant, cheerful and enthusiastic, sympathetic and caring all in one package. Not everybody can be all of these things.

Maxima is a very good sport.

I noticed several of the royal family riding the Segway. What is the connection to the Netherland? Did the company marketing the Segway score a coup? The Segway is a big marketing and sales flop and the photos of the royals riding the thing must be a real boost for them.

wow, this was an awesome day, even Mabel and Friso were happy!;)

Lovely photos, everyone! Thank you so much for posting -- and misshelen special thanks for all those without watermarks! This is a great family; very fun to watch. I echo Alexandria and Larzen's sentiments about Maxima -- she is a versatile personality and brings such genuine energy to each situation!

nice pictures of Máxima and Mabel. :)
I really love the pictures of Mabel and Friso! The seem so much happier then ever! :)

Thanks to everyone for the great pics. It seems like everyone in the DRF enjoyed themselves. What a great family to represent the Netherlands!

I never saw Mabel as happy as she is now and she seems to have found her place in the DRF, so good for her!:)

I don't remember ever seing Mabel so happy either. Glowing with happiness!
I love Maxima's jumping pics. So funny. :D
All the Royal ladies looked great, most of them colourful, but great (though maybe Maxima had better kept her coat on:rolleyes: ).
Queen Beatrix is really an autstanding woman and Queen. So natural, funny (in a good way) and fun-loving! Dautch people are really lucky!:)

Maybe because she is expecting a child? She seems to glow!

Once again - great pictures Rosiati! The one of the Queen is beautiful. She looks so radiant! Thanks.:)

I never noticed before how much Annette & Aimee look like one another. They are very pretty. Everyone looks like they are having a great time.

I wonder if someone has time, they could let us non-Dutch people know who the different people are in the pictures. I know names but am not familiar with who they are other then the Queen and the CP family. If no one has time, where can I find more info about the Dutch family.
Thank you for allowing me this forum.

Rebafan, the people in the above pictures represent either Queen Beatrix three sons and spouses or her youngest sister, Princess Margriet, her husband, Dr. Pieter Von Vollenhoven and their four sons and three of their daughter-in-laws.
Queen Beatrix is a widow. Her three sons are Crown Prince Willem-Alexander and his wife, Crown Princess Maxima; Friso and his wife Mabel and Prince Constantijn and his wife Princess Laurentien. In above post 167, on the second line, you see CP W-A and his wife CPMaxima in the first photo -- she in the rather decorative brown hat and black coat. Also on the second line is a photo of Prince Constantijn and his wife Princess Laurentien -- she is pregnant and in the pink top and Pucci material dress. And in the first photo of the same post, the second woman from the left who is pregnant and in a beige raincoat is Mabel and next to her is her husband Friso. Those are the people in Beatrix immediate family except for mentioning the grandchildren.

Princess Margriet and Doctor Peter V-V have four sons: Maurits and his wife Marilene; Bernhard and his wife Annette; Pieter and his wife Anita (who was not at this event) and Floris and his wife Aimee. In the first post of 167, you can see (from left to right) Annette in the green, then Mabel and Friso, and then Marilene, Maurits, Pieter and Floris In post l67 on the first line, third picture you see Floris and Aimee (in the hot pink).

Now that you know the couples you can check under "sitemap": old, new, royal and blue and find each of the couples wedding threads which will help you get to know them some and then reading under the Dutch Royal Family you can find a wealth of information on these families. They are a very vibrant and fun royal family to watch! Good Luck!

Here's a great family tree made by a Dutch royal watcher:

http://mirjamvanginkel.nl/oranje/nl/nl3.jpg

The translation of some of the terms (though some might be obvious ;)):

Koningin: Queen
Kroonprins: Crown Prince
Prins/Prinses: Prince/Prinses
Erfprinses: Hereditary princess
Gescheiden: Divorced
Graaf/Gravin: Count/Countess
Overleden: Deceased

I think this one is very clear and very helpful and very up to date. :)

That is a great help, Maxie! I don't think I've ever seen it -- and in my naivete, I always thought Erfprinses was something like childprincess! Nice to have the list.

Koninginnedag 2007, Woudrichem and 's Hertogenbosch

Queen's Day 2007 will be celebrated in Woudrichem and 's Hertogenbosch. Please post information and pictures of the event in this thread.

Apparently the costs are estimated at 250.000 euros for Woudrichem and 800.000 euros for 's Hertogenbosch. This caused the usual complaints from the Socialist Party. (source: Editie NL, RTL 4)
