Well, there was a dance group of children demonstrating what they learned. Suddenly a couple of children runned to the royal family and picked Maxima, Laurentien and Marilene to dance with them.
The song they danced on was "Let me entertain you" from Robbie Williams

What is on Maxima's head? Is it a hat of somesort?
She looks very casual with the jean jacket, especially with Marilene and Laurentien dressed up a bit more. Love Laurentien's jacket.

Laurentien looks great considering that she had a baby not too long ago.. She is in great shape!. I sure didn't look like that when I had my son..:)
Maxima looks a bit different..but she seems to have a blast and that's what counts..
can't wait to see more pics!

How awesome is Maxima?!!! She seems to be having such an awesome time and to be soooo down to earth. I think it's great for the royal family's image to have someone like Maxima...I can't wait to see more pictures!

i didn't like maxima's outfit today... the hat was nice but... that jacket?

I agree ... Maxima's outfit seemed much too casual in comparison to what the other ladies were wearing.
A Dutch friend e-mailed me pictures and wrote that she thought Maxima looked like she was doing her best Britney Spears impression!
Laurentien and Marilene were so elegantly turned out in their respective sutis, as were Margriet and the Queen. ... I have not heard much mentioned about the Queen's outfit--which I loved, especially the colour. And I went totally 'ga-ga' for the fuschia pink of Margriet's suit, too!
Also, where were Bernhard and Annette? I know that Annette is heavily pregnant, so maybe an occasion such as this would've exhausted her, but how come Bernhard could not come out?
And what were (if any) sentiments of Queen Juliana on this special day of days?
And I guess Johan and Mabel were watching the festivities at home? (Or perhaps they are on their honeymoon?)

I think Maxima's outfit is not for everyone, but she looked fantastic to me, she seems to have not lost who she is and I think that is great. I must say that Marilene, Laurentien and the Queen all looked very elegant in their outfits. Thanks for the pictures it lookds like they were all having the most amazing time yesterday.

I liked Máxima's outfit, it looked very nice on her. But compared to the other royals, she looked too casual. I think it would be nicer, if for queen's day, they would all dress down a bit.

I like Maxima as "little red riding hood"  And I don´t think that her outfit was too casual...I mean the pictures show obviously that the "Queen´s day" in the Netherlands isn´t compareable to the birthday-celebrations of other monarchs! This is a very lively party, where the people get in close contact with the Royal family. So why should Maxima appear there in a stiff business suit?!

It's very strange, but tomorrow, 21 Juni, on NL 3 at 20:45 is the queens day concert in palace. see it here: the tv schedule: link for today, 20 Juni is: HERE and the link for tomorrow is HERE
But i have a idea, 29 april, the normal day for the concert was a musical evening for MR Pieter van Vollenhoven.
At the concert will be like always the queen, Prince Of Orange, Princess Máxima, Prince COnstantijn and Princess Laurentien, it's not sure of Mabel, Friso , Pieter V.V. and Princess Margriet are there
