Fashion-wise there was too much pink. If they can coordinate what each person is going to do during the celebrations one would think they could coordinate the color they plan on wearing. Maxima's outfit looked okay if this is all you saw of it ANP Beeldbank. But once you saw the full view, it was a thumbs down, imo.
My favorite outfits of the day were worn by the Queen, Aimee, and Mabel. Margriet looked nice as well.

Okay, now that my eyes have had a chance to readjust.... What was with the pink? And not baby pink, or just pink, but neon pink. I think one princess in that would have been enough, but two is just wrong! Don't they coordinate these things? I know that Koninginnedag isn't about the fashion, it's about the country and the Oranjes, but still, too much pink for one day IMO.
On the other hand, I loved the pictures of the family doing all the activities; cooking, playing sport, ice-skating!

It was a rather "pink" day for the Dutch Royals! As pink is a favorite of mine I can't say I mind, but it was a bit of an overload. From pale pink to fuschia.
Aimee looked very nice, very Jackie O, in her yellow suit, and a delghtful change of pace from the other ladies.

What was with all the pink, seriously. Can one of our Dutch members explain? I've never seen such a concentrated effort for one color at Queens Day before. The Queen, Anita, Maxima, Margriet and Laurentien were all in pink of one fashion or another. Was there some special significance?
On another note, leave it to Mabel not to do what the others do just to stick out it seems. Her clothing choices nearly always make her the center of attention!

I guess all the princesses woke up thinking: Let's put on a bright pink dress this Queensdag!!
Maybe they just thought it would be nice to coordinate the colour of their dresses with each other for a change, they voted and pink came out as winning colour!

Each town they go to organises different activities for the members of the royal family to participate at. The Queen was invited to dance the salsa which she did, Willem and Maxima went iceskating etc.

I hate to disagree, but Mabel only stuck out because her outfit was so subdued compared to the others. She wore a black skirt and a white jacket with black trim. Only her shoes stood out and they were really different and trendy, but they weren't in a bright color and didn't scream "Look at me!"
For once, Mabel looked great compared to the others.
I only criticize Laurentien --- she always seems to try to upstage Maxima.
Maxima wore a hat - none of the others wore hats except for the Queen (who always wears a hat) and Laurentien.
Laurentien tries too hard and it shows.

I liked Laurentiens outfit more than I liked that of Maxima, with the exception of the hat!

Koninginnedag made it into today's edition of the Herald Sun There was a nice picture of Queen Beatrix salsa dancing, accompanied by a short caption explaining what and why
