Thanks for the pictures everybody! It was wonderfull to see how relaxed and joyfull everybody was. Also nice to watch the family interaction,. it seems they really have a lot of fun together. Willem-Alexander and Maxima seemed more accesable then on previous Queensday's, when they always sticked to the Queen's side.
As for the clothing, I liked Maxima's outfit (and hairdo). Again, the dress itself looked much better on television then on the pictures. Aimee was the best dressed lady IMO but...I don't like the way she carries herself: chin up and a fake smile (can be my interpretation of course). Annette looked especially radiant, I liked her best. Marilene really needs to change her look, she always goes to the same society shop (Pauw), her clothes are very predictable and I can see them hanging in the shopwindow all the time. She can do MUCH better!!! Mabel looked better them I am used to, I even liked the silver flower. Laurentien was...well...Laurentien.
Annemarie Jorristma should shoot the guy who sold her this outfit. It maked her look even more grotesque then she is.
BTW The Queen apparently switched her cape, first she had a camel one later a bordeaux. I guess the first one was to wet.

There was an explosion of colour in the Netherlands as the royal family led the country's traditional Queen's Day festivities with a blend of pomp and fun. Key members of the clan including Princess Maxima and her husband Crown Prince Willem-Alexander joined the nation's much-loved monarch, Beatrix, to mark the 26th anniversary of her accession to the throne............. http://www.hellomagazine.com/royalty.../queenbeatrix/
Sometimes with Maxima the contrasts is just huge, its hard to imagine that this is the same woman as the perfectly elegant and poised woman in a brown lace dress only a few hours later in Sweden. Koekhappen anyone....?

That is quite the interesting observation Larzen! I think it says something (good, wonderful) about Maxima that she can "check herself" as appropriate, depending on the occasion and the setting. I'm not saying that Maxima should hide her true exuberance or enthusiasm, but quite the opposite. It's great that there are times when her poised self, such as in Sweden, is allowed to shine and dominate, while at other times, such as at Queensday, her exuberance for life and boundless energy is evident, and other times, such as when she is visiting a hospital, you see how tender and solemn she can be.
I think it bodes very well for Maxima as a Crown Princess and a future queen that she is poised and elegant, cheerful and enthusiastic, sympathetic and caring all in one package. Not everybody can be all of these things.
I noticed several of the royal family riding the Segway. What is the connection to the Netherland? Did the company marketing the Segway score a coup? The Segway is a big marketing and sales flop and the photos of the royals riding the thing must be a real boost for them.
