Okay, I give up on my own royal family in the tiara department. I stayed up (it's 3 am here) to see some glittering jewels and what do they do? Leave them in the vaults to gather dust. My oh my... can I get my money back? :p

What is the pin in the hat that you refer to Marengo? Did Maxima wear it with the pink outfit or the black and white one?
I find it interesting that to varying degrees the Queen's daughter-in-laws have picked up on her style -- the pin in the hat by Maxima as Marengo's noted, the brown shawl Maxima wore over one of her gala outfits; the engagement dress Mabel wore to the van Vollenhoven wedding; and sometimes Laurentien's colourful style reminds me of the Queen's outfits.
It must be nice for the Queen to have her son and her daughter-in-law (plus her granddaughters!) accompany her on such a trip. She must miss Claus very much and certainly it must be more fun and less lonely to share these trips with other people than to go by yourself.
State Gifts:
Queen Beatrix was given a Silver Tulip, manufactured by Pallarols.
Prince Willem Alexander was given a silver mate (it has been reported he is a collector of silver objects, is that correct?).
Princess Maxima was given a decorative bowl made of our National precious (or rather semi-precious) called Rosacrosita (for deeper information on the stone check this link in English http://rodocrosita-ar.com.ar/home-e.htm#top ) and onix.
The Queen gave the President several antique maps
During the day, Queen Beatrix made some comments in Spanish but she spoke English 99.99% of the time, while Prince Willem-Alexander was praised by Mrs K for his excellent command of the Spanish language.
I've been watching Canal 13 from Buenos Aires, they have online the evening edition of the news programme (Telenoche) and the presenter was making kind of funny comments - not rude, just funny - like that Maxima's dress matched on purpose the color of the Pink (government) House, about the hats (they're not so common in Arg) and from the crowd waiting outside during the walk from the Pink House to the Banco Nación, some girl shouted: "Máxima, tell us how you did it!!!!!" meaning "how did you manage to catch a prince?":)
Hi everybody!
Just a question: why does Máxima have to wear a hat on her visit here if women never wear hats in this country? Is it part of the Dutch protocol?
Thank you in advance!
Alejandro
Yay, some pics of Maxima! I just adore her hairdo! So beautiful. Looks like she's wearing the diamond necklace of the ruby parure. I like this necklace so much, I think it's one of the finest pieces of the Dutch jewelry collection!
After some research I figured out that it isn't the necklace of the ruby parure, but a newer one that looks like it. It think she wore it before to the wedding of Martha-Louise, together with the orange dress...

Article from HELLO
.............During one of the official ceremonies they attended, Maxima almost stepped forward in front of the queen, a gaffe which would have been an embarrassing breach of protocol. Realising how close she'd come to a literal faux pas, Maxima's face expressed horror, but her husband Crown Prince Willem-Alexander reassured her with a hearty grin...................... http://www.hellomagazine.com/royalty...1/dutchroyals/
