Zara took a very nasty spill..hope she is okay......couple of days and she should really be feeling very sore.

Avalon said:
Zara (rather her father, Mark Phillips) bought Toytown in 1999.

Oh ok. Majesty was wrong a few years ago then, they said that Toytown was from Her Majesty's stables.

So that is now the third version of Toytown's arrival. The first I saw was in Hello when they had that page of thumbnails and an accompaning short story. It said he cost 20,000 pounds. This price was confirmed in a Times interview where Zara said she bought him from a girl who needed money to set up in the City in order to get a job.

When he started winning the big shows, houseandhound forum was full of claims that he was a bargain discovery. In trying to find the article from the Times(which I couldn't quickly), I did see another site repeating the line that he was a bargain.

Oh, yes both Princess and Captain Phillips had distinguished eventing careers. Captain Phillips for many years was also the chef d'equipp for the American 3 day team. As we say in horses, Zara was certainly bred for it.

From today's Hunter Humper News:
"Zara Phillips: Looking forward to Aachen. The English Eventing World Champion, Zara Phillips, will be competing at the famous CHIO Aachen (July 3rd-8th) in two weeks time. "The footing and the track are fantastic' said Zara on Tuesday. The 26 year old grand-daughter of the British Queen and daughter of Princess Anne will be captain of the English team. "I am extremely excited about returning to Aachen. It is simply brilliant that eventing is now being integrated into the famous CHIO, it is a dream come true for us competitors" She commented further that she had wonderful memories of Aachen and is thus particularly excited about the event.

"Zara will be accompanied by her top horse Toy Town," according to the Show Director Frank Kemperman. Zaa Phillips won the World Championship gold medal at the Aachen Soers with Toy Town on August 27, 2006. In spite of strong German competition, the World Champion is favorite to take gold in the eventing. The fact that she is participating is seen as further proof of the good conditions and attractiveness of the cross-country course in Aachen. "Both the footing and the track were fantastic at the FEI World Equestrian Games, of course that is one of the main reasons why I am now riding at the CHIO," explained Phillips.

Zara Phillips is considered to be the Queen's favorite grand-child. She doesn't spend her life socialising with aristocrats, but instead at equestrian show grounds all over the world. The trained equine physiotherapist is the second child of Princess Anne and Mark Phillips, who were successful themselves at numerable international championships. In 2005, she became double European Champion and after going on to win the World Championship's title in 2006, she was awarded witht the "Member of the Order of the British Empire' for her services to the equestrian sport.

The eventing competitions at the CHIO Aachen begin on Friday morning, July 5th with the dressage, followed by the jumping competition in the afternoon of the same day. The spectacular highlight, the cross-country course starts 9:30 am Saturday. Tickets are available online or from the ticket hotline +49(0)-241-917-1111

Crown lo-goes to Zara Phillips

Pretty Zara Phillips seemed to be in the right spot at Wimbledon yesterday — with a crown on her head.
But the Queen’s 26-year-old grand-daughter was really standing in front of an advertising logo.
Meanwhile, world equestrian champion Zara’s outfit attracted a few comments — and many of them were not complimentary.

Aren't we all?:flowers:
No, we aren't, there are a few people that do not love horses that much, only a few, but there are some..;);)
Avalon, thanks for posting your great finding, what a great and funny shot the photographer made of Zara with the crown in the background, we'll surely see that pic in some newspapers next week :)

Phillips heads GB Euro challenge

World and European champions Zara Phillips and Toytown head the British team for the European Championships in Italy from 13-16 September.
Britain will be aiming to win a record seventh consecutive team gold medal.
Britain find ready replacement for Fox-Pitt

Zara Phillips, who is defending her European title won in Blenheim two years ago, heads the team with Toytown. The four other riders - Mary King (Call Again Cavalier), Sharon Hunt (Tankers Town) Daisy Dick (Spring Along) and Oliver Townend (Flint Curtis) - all competed at the World Championships in Aachen last year where Britain won silver.

The Uk equestrian sites that I visit are all reporting cancellations due to the weather.

Zara had good luck last week in being able to get her two newbies out for their first scores.

Upton House One Day Event

That's a good photo site. I found another photo site via a HorseandHound thread about the photographer at the recent Upton House event.

Photo-Synergy

The site has zillions of equestrian event photos and they are catologed by date and time. In order to find photos for Aston Le Wells(if published), I've noted Zara's start times from the British Eventing site which can be entered via the icon in the top right of this site.

Zara got a 1st with her newbie, Tiger Lilly, Thursday 2/8/07.

West Wilts (2) One Day Event

I hope her experienced mounts come through with the goods this weekend at Gatcombe as the UK eventing season has only 2-3 months to run. With all the weather disruptions and Olympic qualification depending on results, it is going to be an exciting weekend for all the competitors.
