Blah,blah,blah... extended corporate advertisment for the liner company...

IMO it's a shame the Duchess is involved with this.

Gosh I hate animal print. I like her hair though.

Very nice ceremony.

I like that the recipients from Catherine, William and Harry's charities were there at the ceremony today.

I quite agree - and it goes a long way to mitigate the issues people have with commercialism. In this case - it also sends the message from the Duchess that though she will be on hiatus, she remains focused on the charities. I thought it was a masterstroke idea from her/William/their handlers.

I'm not a fan of the print, but the shape of the dress was great and her hair looked terrific. I understand why people don't want the Duchess to get involved in commercialism, but I think that there is only one British cruiseline, so she is promoting the British economy, which all the royals do.

Royals from around the world are constantly "shilling" for companies. Many people consider this type of "economic development" part other job in the era of figurehead/constitutional monarchies.

It's a thing called Tradition.

In the past, when HMQ or other members of Royal Families launched a ship,if it were televised, the coverage didn't include an extended promotional 'tour' of the vessel, nor a speech from the chairman extolling the virtues of the 'worlds largest floating pastry shop'...

i'm glad people from the Duchess' charities were included, but i still find the whole 'shebang' rather cheap.

The samething happened when The Queen launched QM2 and when the Duchess of Cornwall launched the Queen Victoria. There were TV coverage's and lots of promotions.

@EbullientLottie: // GUYS I JUST MET KATE MIDDLETON IE THE FUTURE QUEEN OF ENGLAND AND SHE IS SO PREGNANT IT MAKES ME CRY

@EbullientLottie: // SHE WAS GETTING PETROL AND I SAID HI AND SHE SAID 'OH HEY SWEETIE, WOULD YOU LIKE TO GO FIRST' AND I SAID NO IT'S OK AND OMG

@EbullientLottie: @AlaskaJenner // SHE LIVES DOWN THE ROAD FROM ME AND SHE WAS IN THE GAS STATION WITH HER DAD

'Hey sweetie' and gas station? Somehow I don't believe it.

Yes, the "hey, sweetie" pushes the envelope just a tad. Next will be, "Can you run into the store for a packet of chips for me?":D

I think she would have said, "It's my turn, innit?"

I'd heard somewhere that she was with her father today, so maybe it's true. And why wouldn't she offer to let someone go before her? She's not an ogre.

It's not what she did, it's the way she apparently said it. "Hey sweetie"? It just doesn't sound like something she would say.

Not knowing her personally, I don't know if she'd use the word "sweetie" or not. Be that as it may, whatever word she may or may not have used, there's no reason to think she wouldn't allow someone to go before her, or would order someone to go inside to get a snack for her.

My remark about the snack was facetious, nothing more, and wasn't meant to be taken literally. I thought attaching the grinning graphic would have gotten that message across.

:previous: It wasn't the specific wording ... rather, it was the implication, and that's fine. We're all entitled to our opinion. I simply stated mine. I didn't require an explanation. :flowers:
