Well ... in the time of hardships, when the establishment (the Royal family is a part of the establishment) whines about the recession and budget cuts and asks to tighten the belts, the taxpayer funds appear to be misused. It is just a usual trick to whip emotions. It is usual. The PR image of Catherine could be managed a bit better.

And i'm sure if anything should happen to a member of the royal family, there would be an equal outcry as to why they weren't protected.

Taxpayers pays for royals protections and they have right to know how their money is spend. Actually DM often writes positive articles about Kate so few words of truth won't hurt. People are not stupid, not everybody is happy about lifestyle of royals.

When it comes to the public opinion, the royals must tread very cautiously. Public adoration could turn into public dislike fast. One might argue that Duke and Duchess of Cambridge could have gone to holiday locally and, thus, contributed to a much-needed economic boost of a particular area.

Since this is a current events thread speculation about the timing of a pregnancy should be avoided.
We'll know she's pregnant when Clarence House announces the fact.

thanks

Looks like we have Catherine's first engagement while William is away:

Duchess of Cambridge begins solo work with Lucien Freud

Not sure if this is the right place for this.

Was an artist yes, he died in 2011. Freud was born in Germany to half Jewish parents so they moved to the UK to escape Nazism and he became a naturalised citizen in 1939. Freud is reportedly said to have fathered over 40 children (however only 14, most from mistresses can be identified) from numerous mistresses and his 2 wives. He's the grandson of Sigmund Freud. He received the Order of Merit and Order of Companions of Honour.
