So true, Russo! I am so happy that HM finally has switched her black gloves to her white summery ones... So much prettier!

Prince Philip attended a reception for adult volunteers who run the Cadet
Forces, London, 2 June 2010. The reception was part of the national
Cadet150 celebrations, marking 150 years of Cadet Forces in the UK.
The event pays tribute to the 25,000 adult volunteers who work with
131,000 cadets across the UK.

DOE will be 89 in 6 days... Hard to believe isn't it?! What incredible role models we are all blessed to have in Her Majesty and Prince Philip!!

They've worked for so long for the UK and the Commonwealth. Wonderful people.

89 - it's really impressing, but also kind of worrying if you think
of the fact how quickly things can change - I'm sure you know
what I mean..

Queen Elizabeth today attended Derby Day, the second day of the
Epsom Derby, in Surrey, southern England, and enjoyed it a lot.

Oh she does look very beautiful in yellow.
She must be quite warm though.
She really has always enjoyed watching horse races.

She must miss her friend Lord Porchester on these "horsey" occasions. He'd usually be standing in her area somewhere.

It's not just watching horses she enjoys. She's been a formidable horsewoman herself.

Although I don't like the idea of side saddles for women, I've always thought the Queen looked very elegant on side saddle at the Trooping the Colour events.

Riding a horse while sitting sideways must be quite awkward. I'd think that it would be harder to control the horse. But you're right, Renata. HM always looked elegant side-saddle.

Until, say, a century ago, anything other than riding side-saddle would have been unthinkable for women, in terms of "modesty"....

I do know that, but because she was watching the horses, I chose to comment on her like for watching horse racing. :)

You know, HM is one of the very few on whom yellow really looks good on. It's one of the few colours where you either look awful in it or you look stunning.
HM usually looks lovely in it.
I'm so happy her upcoming tour of Canada will allow her and the Duke to attend this year's running of The Queen's Plate. I also enjoy watching horse racing, so this year I'll have two reasons to tune into the broadcast of the race. :D

I completely agree and throw the color green in there as well.
Then again, IMO, HM looks awfully wonderful in anything of late. I think Russo is a romantic where HM is concerned. . .:whistling:

Than I must be as well, Russo, as I So agree with you! HM just looks so stunning and stylish... Young Princesses take notes!

It seems Prince Philip is doing well, he attended a reception yesterday
evening:

Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh meeting Canadian
former servicemen at the Canadian High Commissioner's Residence on June
8, 2010, in London England - You can see the bandage on some of the pics.

I've heard of th is surgery, well he's well enough to do this engagement. It's amazing how the pair both continue with engagements even after accidents or surgery's.

Their duties always come first, it's indeed amazing..

Queen Elizabeth today presented Lord Patel with the insignia of a
Knight of the Thistle, during an audience at Buckingham Palace..

... and attended Royal Investitures, also at Buckingham Palace.

Milk deliveryman Tony Fowler (pic 3) has worn a very special jacket
designed like the coat of a Friesan cow :) He for example had
helped the police catching some criminals including blocking car
thieves with his milk delivery vehicle.

Wow that is a beautiful coat and an ingenius way of catching criminals. :)

Sounds more like being taken from a cartoon film, doesn't it? :)

Today, June 10, Queen Elizabeth attended the Drumhead Service of
Thanksgiving to mark the return of 1st Battalion Royal Welsh from
operations in Afghanistan, at Chester Racecourse, Chester.

I found the coat very aMOOsing. Sorry folks, I just couldn't resist this

I think too that HM looks her best when she wears any solid pastel color. Makes her look younger than her years.

*groan* That was just sooo bad Osipi, but I've been unable to resist temptation of that sort myself, so... :D
Love HM's coat.
Happy Birthday to HRH the Duke of Edinburgh!!! :flowers: :flowers: :flowers:

That pale pink and black outfit is always a winner when she wears it. :flowers:

The Queen attended a second event yesterday, she toured Reaseheath
College in Nantwich on her visit to Cheshire. On the plaque she unveilled
Prince Philip is mentioned as well, but I couldn't find any pics of him.

Love the first pic with the Queen looking at the horse!

I love the pics of the smiling Queen! and what wonderful choice of brooches she made. Terrible about the vandals though. Absolutely awful.

Queen Elizabeth toured the gardens at Capel Manor College in Enfield,
Middlesex, where she opened the Queen Elizabeth, Queen Mother
Centenary Garden and met with staff and students, June 11, 2010.
