Very nice scarf accent Camilla has on. She may not be able to catch up to Diana in the style department, but she is stylish in her own way.

Camilla Smiles at Charity Event

23 OCTOBER 2003
Having stepped out of the limelight since last week's high profile appearance alongside Prince Charles at London's glitzy Fashion Rocks charity gig, Camilla Parker Bowles reemerged on Wednesday to fulfill another of her philanthropic duties.

Despite the storm of controversy over former royal butler Paul Burrell's new book, in which he reveals a series of intimate letters from Charles' late wife Princess Diana, Camilla seemed unaffected as she opened a new osteoporosis research centre in Oxford.

The 56-year-old divorcée, who is president of the National Osteoporosis Society, chose a strikingly upbeat outfit for the occasion – a cranberry-coloured fitted suit, black scarf and black high heels – and was full of smiles upon her arrival.

Mrs Parker Bowles has remained on the fringe of the Princess Diana issue since news of Burrell's bombshell book broke this week. Notes from the late Princess, as well as the contents of correspondence written by Prince Philip and Earl Spencer, are revealed in the tell-all, exposing the private thoughts of the royal family and causing a firestorm in the international press.

When ... he became heir apparent, Prince Charles automatically became Duke of Cornwall under a charter of King Edward III dating back to 1337, which gave that title to the Sovereign's eldest son. He also became, in the Scottish Peerage, Duke of Rothesay, Earl of Carrick and Baron Renfrew, Lord of the Isles, and Prince and Great Steward of Scotland.

The Prince was created Prince of Wales and Earl of Chester in 1958.

In 1968, The Prince of Wales was installed as a Knight of the Garter. The Duke of Rothesay (as he is known in Scotland) was appointed a Knight of the Thistle in 1977. In June 2002 The Prince of Wales was appointed to the Order of Merit.
