Isn’t this the cutest, a young boy sent the Queen a handmade crossword in case she was lonely in lockdown.

I cant find a thread on HMQ's finances so perhaps mods could move this post to the most appropriate place if this isn't it.

I was thinking about how HMQ's income derives from a percentage of The Crown Estates profits and whether that would be affected this financial year by the closure of places and/or drop in visitor numbers or anything else unusual? I know there are some very knowledgeable people here re:the finances and I wonder what you think about it?

Also, I imagine the Duchy of Cornwall will take a hit so what are your thoughts on that?

There is a wealth an finances thread which has a lot of good info here:https://www.theroyalforums.com/forum...nces-9826.html

But as I understand it the system has been worked so HM's income can't actually go down and is lagged by two years so the effects of the downturn won't be felt for a while (if true) . The details of the Sovereign Grant are found here:
https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2011/15/section/6

The Queen's private wealth will likely see a bit of a hit but these will be minimised by good financial advice which I'm sure HM has.

While they will all take a hit, remember that there will be few big ticket items like hosting State Visits and the expensive tourist events like The Trooping of the Colour, Royal Ascot and any State opening of Parliament will be probably pared down to cars and no robes of state.

The same will hold true for the POW just as The Princess Royal's 70th birthday will pass with little fanfare.

That only remains for them to be good landlords of the Duchy's of Lancaster and Cornwall.

How dreadful.

Echoes of Devon Loch in 1956 although he survived.

I'm sure that HM is deeply saddened by this. As a woman that treasures and cares deeply for all of her animals, to have one of her racehorses suffer such a fate is a saddening time.

I'm a bit surprise that the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh is moving to Sandringham Estate right after staying at Balmoral. I was thinking they might be going back to Windsor for Autumn, before Sandringham in Winter. But then again, the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh and their staff might want to reduce their travel.

Sandringham Estate is hosting a Drive-in Movie Experience from 25th to 27th September. Since the estate is large enough, I don't think is too much of an issue with loud sounds.

The article suggests that she is only returning for a few weeks before moving to Windsor. Apparently, it is unclear whether the duke will remain in Sandringham or join her at Windsor. So, maybe they wanted to spend sometime together at Sandringham (instead of Balmoral) before she is to leave for Windsor?!

If I had to guess, Philip may have been homesick for Sandringham / Wood Farm so the decision was made to move HMS Bubble to Sandringham fur a few weeks.

I wonder if this is a way to have a "transition" of those staff bubbling with them. Wood Farm is small by royal standards and if HM has few activities other than relaxing on the estate planned they may be able to reduce the staff around them to a bare minimum allowing those with them some time off for a bit before regathering around them at Windsor in a few weeks.

This stay in Norfolk is bizarre at this time of year. This is a Balmoral time for the Queen. What's going on?

Perhaps its weird because this is the first year of doing things within a pandemic. I've read it often too that both Philip and the Queen like their "getaway" times they spend at Wood Farm. Its the closest they can get to being just the two of them.

My sentiments are that at the young ages of 99 and 94, this couple deserve to do whatever floats their boat. No questions asked.
