Princess Maud of Fife (1893-1945) was the daughter of Alexander Duff, 1st Duke of Fife and Princess Louise of Wales.
On November 12, 1923 , Maud married Charles, Lord Carnegie (1893-1992) at the Royal Military Chapel, Wellington Barracks, London.
Lord Carnegie was the eldest son of Charles Noel Carnegie, 10th Earl of Southesk and inherited the title of Earl of Southesk in 1941.

Princess Maud and Lord Carnegie resided at Elsick House where they operated a model farm.

During his father's life. They eventually moved to the family home Kinnaird Castle. The castle had burned down in 1921 but was rebuilt by his father (though it took 80 years for the work to fully be completed so well into the time of Maud's husband).

Their son James would take up residence at Elsick house. Like his parents, James would spend his later years at the family castle, which is now home to Maud and Charles' grandson the 4th Duke of Fife. Both Elsick and the castle remain in the family though they are available to rent for events.
