Louise looks a very vigorous and spry woman in her sixties here. She was always careful of her figure and diet etc., and that obviously paid off in her later years.

Princess Louise did not approve of her mother's enforced prolonged morning. In 1865, Louise asked for the ballroom to be opened for a debutante dance to mark her seventeenth birthday. Queen Victoria refused.

In 1900 Lord Lorne became 9th Duke of Argyll, and Louise his Duchess. That year, as the wounded from the Boer War began arriving home, Louise turned the Ferry Inn into a hospital.

In 1871 Princess Louise married John Campbell, Marquess of Lorne (future Duke of Argyll). Did she ever sign her name as Louise Campbell?

No, because her husband signed as (and was known to everyone as) "Lorne", until he acceded to the Dukedom, not Campbell. Since Louise was a princess, she outranked him anyway, and could keep signing herself "Louise", the way she'd always done.
