Pope Leo X never met Henry VIII but on the 1th of October 1521, Henry was made Fidei Defensor (Defender of the Faith) by Pope Leo X!

Thank you for this. Anything about the Mary Rose is fascinating.

The exhibition at Portsmouth really is extraordinary. Even more of a highlight of the naval museum than HMS Victory to my mind.
