I wish Sarah would put her hand down until she's done with the curtsey.

The Fail calls it her "trademark" and "signature" deep curtsy, as she always greets the Queen with an elaborate one. It also says that the curtsy is a fine art to perfect (I agree), and I seem to have it down; my piano and vocal teacher says I do a beautiful curtsy.

P.S. I'm not a fan of Sarah's purple shoes with her gold dress and green hat and handbag; green ones would have better matched her outfit.

Hello
Can someone explain why Princess Haya courtseys to prjnce Charles?
They are both kids of King /Queen, and princess Haya is at this moment wife of a ruling prince. She should not curtsey imoClick image for larger version

Hmmm...good question. It was perhaps just simple courtesy because they are of the same rank.

She was not obliged to curtsey to Charles.

I remember that Mary curtsied to both Charles and Camilla when they visited Denmark. I think it was more out of respect for their age.

I've been part of a discussion about the pic on Instagram. While it's only speculation I wonder if Haya's curtsey is either due to the fact that as a Second wife she's not afforded the same rank as a Princess consort or that since Dubai is part of the UAE her husband isn't seen as equal to a European HRH.
It could also be that she has a traditional view of rank - in discussions on Instagram I've seen members of royal families claim that any HSH should curtsey to an HRH which goes against what many of us instinctively feel that all heads of state are alike.

A similar thing happened when Harry and Meghan visited Tonga and the Princess who welcomed them at the airport curtsied to them. Why???

Yes, there is a line of thought that sovereign princes (HSHs) and sovereign grand dukes (HRHs) should bow to kings and queens.

When William becomes Prince of Wales, will Harry need to bow to him.

No. The royals really don’t curtsy and bow to each other. They curtsy and bow to the Monarch.

Currently, Charles is the Prince of Wales and
I don't see his siblings, or his children, bowing to him. So no.

There are film footage from a private garden party held at Clarence House for the Queen Mother's 101st birthday. Zara Tindall hugs Prince Charles but doesn't curtsey. Everyone curtseys to the Queen and the Queen Mother, but not to anyone else.
