Wilanůw Palace is also very beautiful (and also not destroyed):

The Moika palace in St Petersberg. Once owned by Princess Zinaide Yussopov. With its secret rooms. Might be a delightful place to stay in summer. I also like Schwerin Palace in Pomerania surrounded by water. Lots of other places too like Frederiksberg castle in Denmark. A wonderful historical building.
If I had a choice it would be hard to decide.

I'd find it hard to decide between most of the Russian palaces. I think they are absolutely divine. The delicately beautiful Winter Palace at St Petersburg perhaps.
Also Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria, a fairytale castle in an absolutely stunning setting.
Windsor, again set in beautiful surrounds and with such historical significance.

I'd like a comfortable and warm suite of rooms inside these palaces please, not too far from the kitchens. Nothing worse than tepid food!

At the moment I'd pick Corvin Castle (Hunedoara) Castle, in Transylvania Romania

I'd pull the drawbridge shut and read for a month ,but hopefully Dracula's castle is not its next door neighbour

Iíd pick chateau de Vaux-le-Vicomte just below Paris. Itís not technically a royal palace, but itís close enough for me. Itís absolutely gorgeous and itís liveable. Which canít be said for many of these palaces.

But it played a royal palace in "The Man in the Iron Mask" (1998)

I would go big with Palacio Real de Madrid, Winter Palace or something small like Peleș Castle .

Really? I didnít know that. This palace is on my already far to long list of places to visit. Perhaps I should schedule a trip to France in September. And now I have to watch that film.

I know Vaux-le-Vicomte from reading French Royal history and you are 100% right it is absolutely gorgeous.

I would live there in the blink of an eye and what's more I'd probably never leave!

Hohenzollern Castle in Germany would look amazing in the autumn and winter can you imagine the colours!

I would choose Drakesteijn. I remember when Beatrice abdicated a number of posts about this castle and I thought what a beautiful spot it was.

Hohenzollern looks magical with snow and the views are to die for.
And Bran castle in Romania is most interesting. You know the local villagers offered it to Queen Marie of Romania after WW1 because she was the only person they knew who had the means to restore it. And so she did.

It's a great question, but I'd have to see the kitchens and bathrooms before I could choose. Practical me!
