Yes! As you can see by my avatar, I absolutely love the Queen Mum (and Helena Bonham Carter!) she was such a tough cookie!!!:)
The Queen Mother was also one of my favorite Royals- and Robert Hardy is my favorite actor on the planet- so put them together- I would think I have died, and gone to heaven!
( BTW, just sent you a friend request!):D

I'll never understand why royals are so fascinated with celebrities. All well and good to be entertained, but it's as if they bypass ordinary people who have solid honest jobs and prefer people who sell themselves, just because they have a lot of money. As if in fact mney makes a person much better.

Why not socialize with the aristocrats, business people, or people who work at their charities where they are patrons? Mette Marit has more than enough time to jet set to London and spend more time at a party than with entertainers than they do with one engagement. The royals are just being used for social kudos/cachet and it's just degrading to see so much priority given to entertainers, when people who are hard workers are just given attention long enough to count as an engagement.

It's a shame mainly because a lot of the charity workers would be a lot more giving and a lot better influence.

I do not know about Mette Marit, but I read several books about Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip, and a lot of times (please correct me if I am wrong!) it seems neither she nor her husband has any "control" over who they meet. Or maybe I am just jealous that I haven't met the Queen yet LOL!!!!!

Newspapers print pictures of royals with celebrities. You only see what they choose to show you, so don't assume that royals do not spend time with other people.

In the Uk the royals do not always make public their visits to their charities and patronages. These are private visits, but the UK press don't like it and say that they are "secret" as if they have done something wrong.

Nicholas, Hugh, Edward, and William van Cutsem are close friends with Prince William, Duke of Cambridge.

Gwyneth Paltrow is good friend with Crown princess Mette Marit and Crown prince Haakon

P.Charlene is friends (from their swimming days) with Franziska van Almsick

I am so so excited! For the past 3 days I've been helping a friend. We are working on a secret project, so sorry I can't go into more detail, but let's just say she needed help researching the charitable life of actor Robert Hardy. [IBig job.[/I] 50+ organizations. ( I think I now know every post code and phone # in Britain ! ) Inspiring!
Can we say I was in heaven?
Anyway, I was on REX this afternoon- I didn't know RH had made a documentary in 1977 called Horses in Our Blood that had HRH the Princess Royal in it! If I can post the REX results page like you can others I will- the ones of RH with the horses are tear-jerking! ( Mods- should I put those here or in the PR thread?)

Her and Christopher have 2 children, a son and daughter, but they are adopted. They are allowed the courtesy titles of children of a baron, but because they are adopted, ineligible to inherit. There is also an older half-brother Anthony, but as he was born before his parents were wed, he was ineligible to inherit and the title passed to Chris.
