Royals Among The People And With Children

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Over the past couple of days the BRF family have met adults and children that are amputees, seriously ill or dying. I remember that they have spoken (privately) with the parents of a child that had just died.

And its not just the BRF - all of the royals families get involved in these issues.

I am, and I'm embarassed to admit this, total rubbish around seriously sick people and I know that I would find this a very difficult thing to do. I looked at the pictures of the Queen talking to a resident at the hospice and was just in awe. It seems to me that you need to be incredibly resilient to do this job. There's a lot more to it than smiling, waving and receiving flowers/babygrow.

I love watching William and Catherine interact with children and members of the public. They have a natural gift for just making people around them comfortable and at ease. They strike me as very sensitive individuals, and I think that helps them go out there and do all the good that they do (and actually be genuinely interested in the work). The sincerity makes the pictures and videos even better, and I can never get enough of this couple in action.

I think it is brave of you to admit this - doing this type of work requires a special "touch", it is hard to explain, but we are all human and we all have our roles in life.:flowers:

Royals- Hospice care

I wanted to add my views on this. I have volunteered with hospice before, my loved ones have been cared for by hospice, and I have certainly seen what wonderful work members of the BRF the other royal families, and a few other members of the public eye( celebs) have done for hospice. I say a few, because only in a few cases have I seen celebs with a true gift and heart for hospice care.( Robert Hardy, Donald Sinclair, AKA Siegfried Farnon) Most do it for the attention- to be seen doing good works.
It does take a certain gift to work in hospice- not everyone can do it- most of the time you don't know you have it till you do it. I didn't- and it takes a while to get comfortable with the idea that you have a gift- you take to it like a duck to water- it feels right, or it doesn't. Either way is OK- nothing to be ashamed of- it does take a while to get comfortable. I am still not sure I have a gift- I make sure to accept the compliment with grace though.
I see the gift for hospice in HM, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, The Countess of Wessex, and of course the late Princess of Wales, as well as the people above. They have my admiration.

This was beautifully put, and I agree with your sentiments. It takes a special person to work/volunteer in that type of setting, and for the people you've mentioned certainly have what it takes.

You can tell that the people were on cloud nine. I'd imagine that they remember the coronation and Her Majesty's early years on the throne. How special is it that they got a visit from the Queen during the Diamond Jubilee Year no less?

I absolutely ADORE Queen Elizabeth II - she is tireless!!!!!:flowers:

I'm in complete agreement here. The woman has boundless amounts of energy and stamina. Wish she could share some of it with me, since I'm almost always exhausted :D.

:previous: This is probably one of my top favorite events that Her Highness hosts. It brings so much joy to all the families, and Camila herself. I'd love to be one of the volunteers to help at this event :D.

This is no doubt my favorite event- I also would love to volunteer-
The icing on the cake would be if Camilla invited a certian actor to play with the kids.;):D

What wonderful pictures. A great event indeed. Thanks for posting them.

Really great pictures of the Duchess and all those wonderful kids; she really is natural with children.

I think Camila is another person who spreads magic wherever she goes. I can just picture her with my kids (especially a certain someone who hasn't been too happy lately). She would have them soellbound. Too bad she can't make it to the school holiday party next week.
