A diamond and pearl circle tiara which was later inherited by her granddaughter Princess Ragnhild of Norway. She wore it often when attending tiara Event like the Weddings of CP Haakon and Princes Märtha Louise.

Queen Elizabeth II (with Prince Philip, King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia) smiling at a young Prince Felipe during the 1988 state visit to Spain.
One can tell that Her Majesty was pleased with Felipe's proper princely look. Prince Felipe is wearing the sash of the Royal Victorian Order and a miniature of the Order of the Golden Fleece on his necklace. King Juan Carlos is wearing the sash and star of the Garter and a large sovereign's Golden Fleece necklace insignia. Queen Sofia (with the Fleur-de-Lys tiara) wears the sash of a Dame with Collar of the Order of Carlos III. Queen Elizabeth II (with the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara) also has a miniature of the Order of the Golden Fleece attached to a bow ribbon on her chest, which can be better seen in the next picture .

It is a great photo but so sad that they never gave a smile for the camera. I know it wasn't the done thing to do back in those days and by not smiling the image lasts a lifetime with everyone looking quite dour.

Translation of a portion of the write up accompanying the photo:
This weekend, the Norwegian Crown Prince and Princess invited a generational meeting with royalty from Denmark, Sweden and Luxembourg at the Norwegian King's couple's summer house Mågerø on the island of Tjøme south of Oslo.

It looks like the big Gala that Henri and Maria Teresa gave for one of their wedding anniversaries?
Every Royal in Europe seemed to be there!

Curious to see Mette-Marit there. It must have been the first major real event that Mette-Marit attended.

I think Mette-Marit had attended the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony in Oslo in December 2000 shortly after the engagement had been announced

The Scandinavian tabloids made a big deal out of it at the time expecting her to be snubbed by the European Gotha. Apparently it all went well and Victoria in particular took Mette-Marit under her wings. That said I wonder what Josephine-Charlotte was thinking when they were introduced.
