His first wife, Queen Sophie, nee Princess of Wurttemberg. SHe and her mother-in-law dispised each other, (as did husband and wife). The only one in the House of Orange she was close to was her husbands uncle Prince Frederik, the two were accused of having an affair:

I agree with lucien, especially the last part of his post! Many thanks, you're wonderful indeed! I was wondering: where did you find all these pics? Have you been gathering them through the years?

Well, thanks for the compliments :) Almost half of them were found on the Alexanderplatz forums, I forgot to give credits to the persons who posted them there but I am busy retrieving ther pictures & I will mail them to Jess, who was kind enough to offer to add them to the posts. Lucien, you should know this as you probably posted some of them yourself The other half I just googled, which took ages (but don't worry, I am a history student these days so I rather enjoyed myself & the stories I read about the royals)...
BTW, Alexanderplatz has the most wonderfull pictures of Dutch Royal Palaces as well.

Alexanderplatz forum...mmmm..have to check em out clearly! Gotta say, their name conjures up images of turn-of-last-century, bearded anti-monarchists rather than the latter but anyways..
