You know, when I was watching that funeral I almost turned of the tv. It was so sad and I felt completely misplaced watching it, especially when I saw the Queen and her sons so sad. When they started to carry the coffin down and they played a part of the Requiem of Mozart! It was just too much. It was by far the most touching royal event I've seen. Especially because prince Claus always has been one of my favourite members of the DRF.
Thank you so much for all those pictures, Jess! You've really outdone yourself this time, terrific job! :)

I felt the same way. I saw the funeral on TV ,too. You know- I never saw the Queen crying before. That was very touching...

Those pictures are so sad, though I have to say that I find it tasteless when the cameras go too close to the mourners' faces. They should be respected in their grief.:(
Is that Mabel on Prince Maurits's arm?

I felt like I was intruiding and at one point I just averted my eyes, as the Queen was trembling and looked as if she would faint (during Mozarts Requim, when waiting in the middle of the church before they were able to enter the cellar).

Jess - thank you so much for all the photos. I did not see the funeral on TV but just seeing these photos gives the sense that this was a funeral filled with deep sadness. I really don't know much about Claus but he must have been a wonderful man.

I know I am browsing an old thread, therefore I am not expecting any answers, but I wonder why Princess Mabel was accompanied by Prince Carlos or Prince Maurits and not Prince Johan Friso and why the Queen was accompanied by her younger son and not Crown Prince Willem Alexander? Thanks for all the posts and photos, everybody looked very sad for the loss.

I believe you saw the Queen with Prince Friso because he was her only single son at the time. The other two were with their wives when they entered the church and during the service. Mabel was escorted by other family members because they were not yet engaged.
