State Visit from Russia; 26 - 27 April 2010

HE the President of Russia and Mrs Medvedva will pay a State Visit to Norway 26 - 27 April. It will be a rather short one, ending with the government luncheon at Akershus Castle on the 27th.

But it is confirmed that King Harald and Queen Sonja will follow the President and his wife during the visit, so I expect a full State Visit with all its glory.

State visit from Russia: Their Majesties The King and Queen welcome His Excellency President Dmitrij Medvedev and Mrs Svetlana Medvedeva in the Palace Square. Their Royal Highnesses The Crown Prince and Crown Princess will also be in attendance (10:30).



Official Luncheon
State visit from Russia: Their Majesties The King and Queen host an official luncheon in honour of His Excellency President Dmitrij Medvedev and Mrs Svetlana Medvedeva at the Royal Palace. Their Royal Highnesses The Crown Prince and Crown Princess, and Her Highness Princess Astrid, Mrs Ferner will also be in attendance (13:00).



Wreath-laying ceremony
State visit from Russia: Their Majesties The King and Queen accompany His Excellency President Dmitrij Medvedev and Mrs Svetlana Medvedeva to the wreath-laying ceremony at the National Monument, Akershus Castle (15:00).

Thank you for posting this video, Paty. Princess Mette-Marit looks very pretty. I remember this dress from some event, but can't recall where I saw it. I think it was for some birthday event. I like it very much as it suits Mette-Marit quite well.

Yes I think so, it seems to be very similar.

I smile everytime I see Princess Astrid in that tiara because I think it looks more like bunny ears or insect horns than jewelry. Then I saw on the Scandinavian Royal Message Board that she often makes fun of it herself and calls it her "antenna," receiving London on one end and Moscow on the other. I like that about her - I appreciate people (especially royals) who can laugh at themselves.

Those dresses are in Norway known as "Court Dresses", which means; dresses worn by women of the court. It's like their gala uniform during banquets held at the Royal Palace.
