Thank you so much pdas for all these wonderful pictures! The Emperor and Empress is such an adorable couple, and the Empress never stops to amaze with her simple but very elegant and majestic outfits. Simply wonderful!

You are most welcome, GrandDuchess:)

Indeed the Empreror and Empress make a wonderful couple. They take such care of each other, like during the boat trip the Emperor took care that his wife was seated comfortably,he put the blankets on her himself and took care that she was tucked in properly.

Truly a loving couple and a wonderful example for others.

how long Empreror Akihito and Empress Michiko stay in Norway?

Sara Boyce

An observation

I picked out these photos (thanks pdas1201) because they show an interesting rapport between Empress Michiko and the Crown Princess. Mette Marit appears very warm and tactile with the Empress - note their hands in the pic where the Emperor is facing the camera - very sweet.

Judging by the warmth shown in the photos, Mette Marit is proving herself to be an accomplished Crown Princess.

Mette-Marit has not commented on her pregnancy since the very first days after her anouncement so we cant really know. The Information person from the palace said that she did not attend the lunch in Trondheim the first day of the Japanese visit there because she was not feeling well when she should leave from Oslo and had to take a later plane. Therefor she arrived later for the dinner in the evening. The Local paper in Trondheim said she was at the dinner but there are no pictures of her, maybe she did not have time to change, I dont know. The papers further wrote that she looked much better the next day when she was accompanying the Imperial couple by her self so I suppose it varries from day to day.

Se og Hør wrote that she feels better in the evening than in the morning but I dont know what kind of source they have, most likely they are just speculating ...

Since she hardly is schedeuld for engagements the next days and the Queen and Crown Prince has almost one a day I assume things could be better. She will accompany Haakon to Bergen on the 25th and they start their 3 days trip to Poland on the 30th.

Hopefully both she and the King will be back in business for the centennial celebrations on June 7th. VG reports that the King plans on taking over as regent again on that day which would be very happy news, but again they dont state a source.

don't think it's because of lack of time to change. if there arent pics may be because of anything else, but not because of that. come on, she is a princess, she must have time to change. and... don't thin she will attend to a formal gala with everyday clothes. if she went its likely she got dressed for the ocassion.

did she went alone with the emperors? wasnt sonja with her at least? don't think it was easy for her to handle it as she hasnt been a princess for long and japanese protocol seems quite difficult and there are lots of rules. (think she managed correctly thought, but you never know... the royal house should have had that into account)

that's a silly comment by se og hor. all pregant women tend to feel better during the evening.

As I said I dont know why there was not pictures of her. Her plane arrived in the evening and the paper (adresseavisen) saw her arrive, but they for some strange reason have no picture online from the dinner, not of the Emperor, not of the Queen and not of Mette-Marit, strange since they have truckloads of picture from every other event. The paper said Mette-Marit arrived in Stiftsgården directly from the airport and that the dinner had started when she arrived. the reason for the late flight was that she was feeling unwell in the morning.

Yes she was hostess for the Emperor and Empress the last day of the visit, she is also listed as hostess the last day on the royal website under photos. Haakon had to attend State council in Oslo as the regent must every Friday and Sonja had to fly to the west coast for two engagements. Mette-Marit accompanied the Imperial Couple to a museum, to the university, for the lunch, for the boattrip and to the fishmarket (brown pant suit) and finally to the airport for the good bye ceremony(blue suit beige hat) there are pictures of it in the tread about the state visit. There were no reports that there was any breech of protocoll, since they have been planning the visit for two years I assume everyone was briefed and knew exactly what to do and how to act.

Well I agree Se og Hør is a silly mag (unfortunatly they have the best pictures so sometimes I buy it (of course I make sure noone sees me:D ) and I have heared of plenty of pregnant woman that does not feel better in the evening, as I said, I guess it varries from woman to woman and from day to day

Se og Hør has usually very good sources. They did know about the pregnantsy of Mette-Marit a few hour after she know it herself. Were Märthas birth should take place. Mette-Marit startet to smoke a few monyh this winter and stoped again etc. I think it's true and somebody told them.
