Ari Behn attended the dinner as well, I wonder why he didn't walk with the royal family? He was wearing a Dutch order btw, which might be his first one.
Queen Beatrix' dress looks even odder than her usual ones. But well...

Also at other State Banquets he attended he walked not with the Royal Family. Always with Johan Martin Ferner behind the Royal Family.

I was hoping WA and Maxima would join the Queen.. it's too bad; they so often join her Majesty and now, when I was hoping for great pictures of Mette Marit and Maxima, they don't.
Mette looks stunning! She has made quite an improvement, don't you think?
Beatrix, Harald and Sonja seem to go along evry well. In the pictures of the welcoming it looks more like a meeting of friends then a formal meeting. Great. :)

I was hoping for that too. But they only accompanied the Queen on state visits outside Europe thus far, with two exceptions: Belgium (only the 1st day) and Turkey (which had a very interesting programme, and a state visit that was long overdue). Still, queen Beatrix seems to enjoy the programme and the Norwegian royals. This is probably the last time that the Queen will be accompanied by the foreign minister Maxime Verhagen. There will be elections in a few weeks and the Christian Democrats are expected to lose a lot of seats (which makes it unlikely that they will return in the next coalition government).
I believe the lady behind Queen Sonja in this picture: http://img215.imagevenue.com/img.php...122_1163lo.jpg is Martine van Loon-Labouchere, grand mastress of the household of the Dutch Queen. She always accompanies HM on state visits.

These people have either known each other their entire lives, or for many years, as is the case for Beatrix and Sonja. Naturally it looks like a meeting of friends, because it is a meeting of friends as well as respective Heads of State
Most of Europes Royal Families are either close, or in the very least have a firm friendship established.

Princess Mette-Marit's fashion style has changed so much to the positive recently. Her choice of outfits are simply great and suit her very much in color and style.
