Queen Sonja and Crown Prince Haakon attended the hand-over/opening of Oslo's year as the European Green City of the Year (2019) today.

I managed to catch the ceremony live on Facebook and found it really good. My Norwegian is improving to the point where I can pick out the random words I know (but still not understand the full sentence. I'll get there )

Here's a link to the video, if you want to see nice Oslo scenery and listen to great Oslo musical acts. Her Majesty and the CP didn't speak, but you can see them entering at around 8:10, see them clapping throughout the ceremony, and then leaving.

And yes, The Mayor of Oslo, Marianne Borgen, invited 400 guests with Sámi-background to mark the day with a brunch in Oslo City Hall's main hall this morning (a tradition since 2003), which was also attended by The Prime Minister and The Bishop of Oslo who, in addition to the mayor, gave speeches. - While Sámi artists and children stood for the entertainment.

Sonja seems to be suffering from carpal tunnel or a wrist injury (see pic 1.) Is this a recent thing, or is it a reoccurring injury?

Hmm, she's had problems with both arms/wrists in the past, but the first time I saw her pictured with a bandage this time, was during The King’s Medal of Merit reception on January 31ts.
And although The Queen is what I would describe as ''extremely fit'' for her age, she (as I have mentioned in other threads) is after all an 81-year-old lady suffering from arthritis. - And taking her VERY active lifestyle into consideration. I.e. the trekking/skiing-trips, jogging, exercising at fitness centres, etc, stuff can happen.

??

Queen Sonja opened an exhibition with Sami art in her own gallery in Oslo today.
Princess Astrid attend also but no pictures of her so far.

Yes, in The Queen Sonja Art Stable, which one can read more about in English here (link).

The new exhibition consists of approximately 60 works from three generations of 13 Sámi artist from Norway, Sweden and Finland, and is the largest collection of Sámi art ever to be presented in Oslo.

Well, the white-tie diplomat-dinner, which is hosted by The Regent-Couple every third year (every other year until 2009), is taking place at The Royal Palace this evening. Princess Astrid is also in attendance.
But in contrast to the annual white-tie Stortings-dinner (gala-dinner for the Parliament), NTB (The Norwegian News Agency) is not allowed inside the palace to film the greetings, royal procession and speeches for NRK/TV2. - Although they were let in to take some pictures, yes, even film the royals when they were processing into The Banqueting Hall in 2016.

And so they were tonight: photo 1 - photo 2 - video.

BTW: Why isn't The CP-Couple in attendance?
1. The Crown Prince is still in Colombia as Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Development Programme, UNDP - February 11-14th.
2. The Crown Princess is probably resting after her stay in Sweden, attending The Alpine World Ski Championships with The Crown Prince - February 8-10th.

I was a bit busy yesterday evening, so I forgot to mention two things in the above post:

First: Take a look from 2:00 in the video I posted, to see some very relieved guardsmen finally having the chance to move their hands/legs after standing on parade along the procession-route inside the Royal Palace for about 30 min.

Second: The dinner was introduced early in the reign of King Haakon VII, but unsure of the exact year.

BTW: Here's another video (with better quality) where one can see all the diplomats plus wives/husbands, some ministers, courtiers and the royals (152 people in total) processing into The Banqueting Hall (link).

Hmm, was there anything more, yes: Nobody are doing white-tie gala-dinners like The NRF. I mean, while the guests/royals in The UK, DK and Sweden are processing through some vestibules, here we have a Music Hall, two beautiful Ballrooms plus two Banqueting Halls to walk through, and that despite The Royal Palace being much smaller than that in Stockholm.

So, if you haven't done it already, check out these rooms here (link).

That is the vessel which Princess Ingrid Alexandra (accompanied by her father) christened back in November. Read more about it and ''FF Kronprins Haakon'' in post 20.

BTW, here is an English Wikipedia article (link).
