 Thanks polyesco, eya & iceflower!
The CP-Couple met Carmen (19) and Guido (13), who both know how it's like to have a parent in jail.
Carmen (due to her father's imprisonment) struggled with guil for many years, and the situation had major consequences for her. Eventually, she received good help in processing the situation - and has for many years enjoyed taking part in FFP-Young, where she's met children/youth in a similar situation.
Today she is keen to convey how important it is that children and adults talk together when one in the family is imprisoned, and most importantly, that it's never a child's fault.
--------------------
BTW: I see that English-speaking media (I.e. The Mail and Getty Images, who probably never check The Norwegian Royal House-website) refers to ''For Fangers Pårørende (FFP)'' as ''The Fathers Pursuit Organisation.''
Hmm, yes, when writing the words with the first letter as uppercase in google-translate, the result will be ''For Fangers Pursuit,'' which of course can be mistaken for ''Fathers Pursuit,'' but that's completely wrong.
So let's go into detail:
The word ''fangers'' means ''prisoners,'' while ''pårørende'' means ''relatives,'' which again means that the correct translation will be The Organisation ''For Prisoners Relatives.''
However, FFP refers to themselves in English as The Organisation ''For Families and Friends of Prisoners,'' probably because it's sounds better.

It must be difficult for children of inmates!
Today you are fortunately rarely asked: "Now, what does your father do for a living?"
But children today nevertheless have to be surprisingly conform in order not to stand out. And one of the last things children want is to stand out.
Children are, through peer-pressure, even required to be unique in a conform way!!
"My dad is in prison" don't earn many points most places. So along with children of parents who are mentally ill or alcoholics, I bet these children are used to lie routinely. - A surprising number of their parents no doubt work "in the off shore industry" or "working construction in Sweden."

Yes, let's give credit where credit is due, and here it is!
So, kudos to the CP-Couple/court.

Yes, in contrast to when I was in Primary/Lower secondary school (Grades 1-10, ages 6-16) in the 1990s and early 2000s, when having a imprisoned father was something you actually bragged about.
Not that it was any less difficult for that reason of course, but people were not so obsessed with ''that everything has to be so freaking perfect all the time,'' which made it easier to be yourself, whether you came from a troubled family or not.

Thanks iceflower!
These two pictures are from the arrival, where The Queen receives flowers from patient, Emma Weiss-Hagen (15). - The lady in red is The Mayor of Oslo, Marianne Borgen.
More photos from the visit. - If they don't show, click on them more than once:
From inside the ward, HM is making Christmas-decorations (one of her favourite things) with the patients, including Emma:

And here she leaves, taking the time to speak to the media, who probably asked about her visit. I.e. how it was meeting the patients, staff and what she thinks about the Norwegian health-services (something the royals are always asked about after such visits):

Wonderful visits thanks for the photos
The queen really seems to enjoy making decorations. I bet she is a fun grandma this time of year.

Yes, she loves working with her hands, be it Découpage, Norwegian rose-painting, pottery, Knitting or Christmas-decorations.

About Kongsseteren (The Royal Lodge) - English Royal House article (link). - Plus a separate link to a pretty good photo.
About Holmenkollen - English Wikipedia article (link).
BTW: After the Lodge was completed in 1911, The RF used to celebrate every Christmas there during the reigns of Haakon VII and Olav V, something the King and Queen have mostly continued with.
And no, we haven't heard anything about Märtha and her children yet, but they will most likely celebrate with the Behn family (as Ari celebrated with the royals last year).
|
So, what are they going to eat today (on Christmas Eve, which is the main day of Celebrations here in Norway)? Well, in contrast to us ordinary Norwegians (one can read what we eat in this English Wikipedia article - link), they've adopted a Danish-Christmas-tradition (through the Danish-born King Haakon WII) of eating roast pork as the main course. - And Queen Maud's English plum pudding for dessert, which nobody in the family likes, according to The King.
--------------------
BTW: It's now confirmed that Märtha and her children will celebrate together with the Behns.
--------------------
First Day of Christmas (December 25th): The Regent-Couple and The CP-Family will attend the traditional Christmas-Service in Holmenkollen Chapel (not long from The Royal Lodge) at 12:00 in the afternoon. TV2 News Channel will be live outside, with a reporter and their Royal Expert, Kjell Arne Totland.

Interesting! I would never have predicted that marzipan pigs would be the traditional "almond prize".

I suppose royals are required to keep to tradition at any price. It is a nice contrast in that the strikingly modernizing and "Norwegian" royal house of Norway (the first European royal house to establish the standard of marrying ordinary private citizens from their own country) maintains traditions from their foreign dynastic heritage.

It certainly sounds as if the princess has continued to enjoy a good relationship with the family of her former husband.

Thank you for your comments, Muhler and Royal Norway. It is interesting, and troubling, that the problems experienced by the children of inmates are a sign of generally increasing pressure in society.

They usually go to church on the 25th. I wonder if there no pics available yet?

Yes, as one can see - and as W.Y.CII stated, Sverre is supporting his grandmother on the icy (although sanded) ground, while The King (whose walking is not the best these days, due to back/leg pains) managed himself without any help (not bad): TV2 video (link).
And here are some more photos. - If they don't show, click on them more than once:
The King and the royals bid farewell to Chaplain, Silje Karlsen (left) and Church-verger, Inger Margrethe Magnus (right):

The Queen and Sverre:

The Crown Princess in a very good mood:

And here is a picture of the King's main state-car with the royal name A2 (a 2016 Audi A8 Extended Limousine), which The Regent-Couple, Ingrid and Sverre arrived/left in (while the CP-Couple arrived/left in one of the court's smaller cars, a bit difficult to see which one):

Better photo, taken during the Icelandic state visit in 2017 (link).

About Holmenkollen Chapel: Wikipedia article.
BTW: Princess Astrid (who now celebrates elsewhere with her own bunch) has always had good childhood-memories from the Christmas-services in Holmenkollen, and since she and her family have always belonged to Ris Parish, which manages the chapel, she chose to christen all her five children there.
It was also the place where her third child and oldest son, Alexander Ferner, married in 1997 - and where the funeral service of her husband, Johan Martin Ferner, was held in 2015. And it was the princess herself who raised most of the money to the rebuilding of the new chapel-bulding after the old one was set on fire and burned down as a criminal offence (by arson) in 1992 (read more about it in the article).
And here are some pictures of the chapel - and the view from it over Oslo, taken today:

Yes, and according to themselves, it is due to these two reasons:
1. The children.
2. That they still enjoy each other's company.

Royal Norway, or someone else who understands spoken Norwegian, what was Mette-Marit asked and what was her answer at the end of the video (TV2 video)?
