Lovely pictures. Thanks Misshelen.
The Queen always looks so relaxed when she's on the water.
Is she taking a close up picture of Pieter in that one shot? Poor guy - who wants to be that close to the lens?

thanks for these pictures! I really like the ones where Beatrix is serving soup or sth of the sort to the other folks on "The Groene Draek". Because that's the way I have always imagined her to be in 'real life', or, rather, 'in private': a very motherly-type person, someone who always wants to make sure everyone around her has enough to eat, etc etc.

I just love to see pictures of Beatrix with a camera. It reminds me of all those pictures I've seen of her (starting when she was about age 10) when she started to document everything on film (photo or video). I also enjoy seeing Queen Beatrix with Peter - they are so close and friendly and he always has a warm smile on his face.

Very nice pictures! I have been to sail Amsterdam wednesday, saturday and sunday myself and luckily I could see both the Queen as Mr. Pieter van Vollenhoven and the Prince of Orange (and the mayor of Amsterdam). I really likes the pictures of the queen pouring soup etc, just like wht the people in the other boats are doing as well, eating and drinking, enjoying each others company and wathcing those amazing ships of course!

Colourpress just released these pictures of the Queen - I'm not sure when they were taken. They are kind of fun because they show the Queen looking at some of the displays that have been created in honour of her Jubilee. I wonder if she ever gets used to seeing her picture everywhere?

... ANP has some photos from the event too ... (whatever it was).
I think in the one picture, HM is pointing out a picture of little Catharina-Amalia.

according to JH on the Benelux Royals MB:
'HM visited the "Noordeinde in beeld"manifestation yesterday,The Hague. On occasion of HM's Silver Jubilee,
galeries, shops and all those living at Noordeinde wish to present a work of Art to HM where as HM can choose
out of 12 sculptures on exhibit in 12 different galleries at the Noordeinde.
HM started at "De Nachtwacht"a huge bronze after Rembrandt, and on occasion of the Jubilee placed right in
front of Noordeinde Palace. All figures of the painting are live-size in bronze, executed by two Russian sculptors,
Mikhail Dronov and Alexander Taratinov.'
so that is where the pictures come from.

Bingo! That description sounds like it would fit with the pictures. Thank you so much Marengo.:) Nothing was announced on the royal website about the visit, so I was beginning to wonder just when these pictures were taken. Mystery solved.

So in honor of her 25th Jubilee, I have heard people mention that the Queen gave a series of rather candid interviews. I've seen a couple of the videos myself on NOS, but I was hoping that maybe someone here could translate some of what Queen Beatrix said in those interviews. Or, are there transcipts of the interviews in English somewhere???

Sept. 19 2005 The Queen is presented with a book that has been published in honour of her Jubilee year. The book (to be made available for free to all those who turn 18 during Jubilee year) outlines the Dutch form of government (constitutional monarchy), historical development of its constitutional law, how citizens can exert influence, etc.

Hahaha! In the first pic I think she's picking up some tips from the rapper who was there to greet her.
Video of a really awesome Queen with a funny rapper:
