It all depends on who is creating the speculation and how much chaos they can
cause. Hopefully, people can put their personal opinions/feelings aside and stay focus on the importance of the North Pole mission.

I just read Annabelle's website...Wow!! Is she impressive. I have to say that to do what she has done, she is the consumate professional and will probably be extremely focused during this trip. This woman is an adreneline junkie...and I'm sure her being involved helped get a few of those sponsors. I wonder who is setting the pace of this trip since she is known for doing things in record time...

All of the members of the expedition have impressive bios. Someone has put together a very impressive team. After reading Annabelle's bio, and what she has accomplished this passed year, she is a good choice as a team member.

Finally there happen to be women on this planet and not only men.... what could Albert possibly do about this? Making sure that there's no woman present wherever he goes and in whatever he does ?;)

Well, making sure there isn't some blonde beauty along might help if he really wants to focus attention on global warming.

It'll be interesting to see how many column inches are given to global warming and how many to his beautiful blonde companion.

Hi everyone i am a newbie (sort of ) has ANYboDY GOT a CLUE as to whether EVEN one of these people brought a gun with them in the middle of polar bear countr??? i went to the prince albert and crew sight and they didn't HAPPEN to mention. however they did say polar bears outnumber people around 5 to 1 in this place, soo-oo i just wondered if any ONE considered the fact all that dog food and people might start looking pre-t-y good to a hungry bear?? any thoughts on this???

Good point Elspeth. I seriously doubt global warming is going to get much attention considering who is on the expedition.

Hope that all goes well and they return home safely.

well i read she already has a boyfriend, but i don't know. btw does AnBODY know whether these people are getting much sleep?? doesn't SOMEBODY have to do guard duty out there in snowville country?? what are thoughts on this:eek:

They probably have a rotation schedule worked out so most people sleep while one or two guard.

Which columns focus on global warming and which columns focus on the beautiful blond really depends on the type of publication. Those publications which MAY decide to focus on the beautiful blonde probably would not have written an extensive article about Prince Albert and global warming anyway (if so, maybe only a cursory mentioning).

Based on Ms. Bond's bio, she seems to be just as qualified to be on this mission as the men are. It's unfortunate that some see her beauty as a distraction on this expedition just because of Albert's reputation. If she was plain looking (or ugly), I doubt if anyone would have thought twice about inquiring more about her.

I guess looks matters in any situation, even in these artic conditions.

This is really a mute point for those that believe that Annabelle was the woman with Albert last summer. If she was, do you think she would be remotely interested in Albert now on this trip after his much publicized romance with Charlene? Please, let there be one woman in this man's life with some dignity! Perhaps this woman is serious about her work (her endurance trips are extensive) and this expedition is a great opportunity to enhance it.

However, I do think Albert picked her for this trip.

:) hey everyone. i went to the poles.com site on page 2 and wow :D what a relief to see and hear of preparations. you know most of the worlds idea of "roughing" it is a 3 star hotel instead of a 5-star hotel. but, i am a-MAZ-ED that this sector of the poles (which most people consider pretty far out there in polar bear nowwhere-ville, no disrespect intended) has seen some MAJOR traffic. that's quite awesome. i had hoped to see more pictures;) but i guess they'll have some later. well, global warming is an issue that's at the heart of all of us, not just here, but everywhere so, it was a good idea. :D well can't wait to see those polar pictures, if they take some. well, while personally since i am a girl, i am not a fan of princess steph and caroline (not to be unkind) i truly, cannot I-MAGINE that princess steph or caroline would want to be hanging out in the middle of the NORTH POLE when for most of us the end of the long  COLD:eek: WINTER is here. Prince Albert seems to be more the adventerous rugged one of the family. :)

:D :D I like this Freudian typho. Though I totally agree that she seems to be just as qualified as the rest and it is rather unfortunate that a woman nowadays still has to have her motives questioned for what she is doing and especially when she is pretty and entering a man's domain. No one seems to question the men and their sexuality. I am glad that it is not an all male outing.

Thanks Paca, I corrected that.

Annabella has accomplished a lot of the things I wish I had had the time and money to accomplish. I also wish I had her looks and body.

I am glad that she was included in the group.

I just wish that here in the states there would be more attention drawn to her and her money raising for the Eve Appeal which specialises in the prevention of Ovarian Cancer. Her bio says that she has raised 1.6million USD for this cause.

Annabelle is amazing ----raising the money for cancer and completing those physical challenges...

She was the daughter of a noble and could have just partied her life away...

So accomplished----I think she is way out of PA's romantic league anyway--
I hope the trip isn't scheduled over Easter. The monarch of a Catholic country should be attending Mass on the holiest day of the year. But, I'm sure he took that into consideration when the trip was planned...

There is a great article in Time Magazine about the issues of Global Warming.

http://www.time.com/time/archive/preview/0,10987,1176980,00.html

When you read this you really see the importance of this trip to the North Pole and how important it is to raise awareness of this issue. Its sad to read about the Polar Bears that are drowning.

PA really cares about these issues and I think its an example of how passionate he can be when he cares about something.

The goal is reaching the North Pole by Easter sunday, what if they don't for some reason. Are they on a strict time table or are they just playing it by ear (ie: weather delays,etc..)?

I think that's the reason Annabelle Bond was asked to join the group; she is known for scaling mountains in record time. I'm sure it's all mapped out and that they had to give some sort of timeline as to where they expected to be when in case a rescue mission should be needed (God forbid). I'm sure they also budgeted time for weather delays and the like so I wouldn't be surprised to hear that they made it ahead of schedule if things go their way.

April is the busy month for North Pole Treks. Right now there are several groups heading up there to both the true pole and magnetic pole. I'm also watching the teenage boy from Scotland. If, God forbids, something was to happen to anyone, rescue is close at hand. But I also agree that Annabelle was probably brought along to whip them along. She is one motivated lady.

I also hope that nobody shots the Easter Bunny up there.

I have removed several off-topic posts. Please let's keep this discussion focused on Prince Albert and his North Pole Expedition.

Thanks for your co-operation.

The day before, forwarding left Monday had made stopover with Longyearbyen in the archipelago of Svalbard. The prince, specified the palace, "made a point of dealing itself with the huskies which will lead it towards the North Pole".

Here's a link to a video clip of the first two days of the expedition from the Monaco Arctic Expedition website.

It seems like a very exciting trip. Wow, they have a lot of equipment. With the increased technology and better resources, this expedition is probably easier than the one albert I made. Nevertheless, it sis still an incredible journey. Besides "raising awareness of the world public opinion to the global issues that represent, in the short term, risks pertinent to climatic warming and dangers of industrial pollution, which impact is all the more serious in the Arctic " (as listed on the website) does anyone know if the team will be performing any special research? Also, what portion (and how much) of the trip will be by sled?

Thanks for the video!

Question, the dogs they show loading into the plane look like golden labs or a mix. Don't huskies, with their thick fur and power pull the dog sleds through those harsh conditions?

Anyone know?

Okay, there are the huskies!! Thanks for the link to the daily pix MyAdia. I wonder what the other types of dogs were for they were loading in the video.
