Hi melina-premiere, I know that all the major channels will broadcast William/Kate and I plan to watch because I love Royal weddings.

But I would MUCH RATHER see the Monagasque wedding than William/Kate, if I had a choice!

Update: Crown Prince Ernst August of Hanover has moved back into his princely residence (see below):

Google Translate

The article mentions that he has only stayed there on two other occasions ~ during the World Expo ~ and for the 2005 Funeral of Prince Rainier.

This makes me think he may be attending the Royal Wedding of Prince Albert to Miss Charlene Wittstock? If so, I am beyond pleased, it will mean the whole family will be there, including maybe his younger brother Christian? :flowers:

I know from reading past articles and seeing pics that the entire family is very close-knit, even now despite the estrangement of their stepmother and father, so I wouldn't be surprised at all to see them there. :)

In almost all European countries, there is a choice:

1) To get married in church AND have a civil wedding.

2) To have a civil wedding only.

Nadine, I'm not sure what the article may have to do with the coming marriage
in Monaco, I don't see any connections there.

The article says that Prince Ernst August's son Ernst August junior plans to
to use the family's palace privately, as a second residence, and that there
won't be any more public events organized there.

It doesn't say that he only stayed there twice, but that Prince Rainier once
stayed overnight when he, Caroline and Ernst August visited the Expo in 2005.

Bad google translation ;) and no hint of possible guests for the wedding.

Thanks to everyone for the info on the bridal bouquet. I've never heard of leaving it at the church, etc. But I do think it's better than tossing it in the air for single ladies!

Yikes, my bad, thanks for the correction, iceflower. :)

Still, I have hope he will show up with his brother, since they both were present at Rainier's funeral. One can hope *crossing fingers*. :)^)

You can't just get married in a church?

LOL! Same here! I have been to some weddings where you would not believe how physical and downright AGGRESSIVE the ladies became when it was time to catch the bouquet!

The idea of leaving it at a church or even donating it to a hospital is more to my taste by far!

In France you must have a civil wedding before the religious wedding, if you marry only with a religious service, your wedding is not recognized by the law, it is as you are not married, it is the same law in Monaco. the civil wedding is recognized by the law.If a couple wants marry, he must have first the civil wedding after he must have the religious wedding.(Catholic , protestant, muslin and so.. no matter but first the civil wedding, I think it is the same law in Belgium as in France and Monaco

I've seen people crying over the bouquet and then the bride taking it and letting no one have it! Women can be so vicious towards each other!! ;)

I Often see that in serie films, I think every country has his use and it is normal, In France there are many uses for the bouquet, in the South of France, we don't offer our bouquet already after the wedding, we keep it during the evening and we offer our bouquet the to morrow to the virgin or to the patron of the town in the church, in other parts of France some bride keeps the bouquet and it is on the bed of the first baby, some like my daughter in law took it on the grave of her father who died some years ago. In Monaco Princess Grace , Princess Caroline offered the bouquet to the sainte devote after the wedding, it was an occasion for the people to see their princess and it will be the same thing for Charlene.

Will there be a LIVE INTERNET FEED from Monaco. Hope so as was able to watch Victoria of Sweden's wedding here in the UK but could not understand the language? I expect the Monaco wedding will be all in FRENCH in any case.

there is the site monaco info on line, You will be able to watch the wedding, there was on it the funeral of Princess Antoinette in live. The monaco'wedding will be in french. it is the official language in Monaco.

its great that the wedding will be an afternoon wedding, cause we will get the chance to see long dresses and maybe tiaras:flowers:

This morning in Nice Matin, the palace announces that the dinner and the ball will take place at the Salle Garnier of the opera and the ball will be on the (terrasse) of the Casino, they cannot make the dinner and the ball at the oceanic museum because there are problems of the logistics, and it will be more easy for the hosts to go there.
There were already dinners in this salle for exemple a dinner with the crown princess Victoria od Sweden)

We need to teach you how to post links. Thank you :flowers: for the info you beat my google alerts.
The evening of July 2, does not ultimately be held at the Oceanographic Museum as was originally envisaged. Yesterday, a statement from Prince's Palace stressed "following the logistical problems encountered in organizing the official dinner at the Oceanographic Museum Saturday, July 2, it was decided that the evening would be held in the Opera Garnier and the terraces of the Casino. This change of location will promote a more flexible management of the festivities. "

I can't wait for the guest list! Excited to see who is attending from the European Royal Houses

From the calendar of the royal family of Sweden:
King Carl Gustaf, queen Silvia, crown princess Victoria, prince Daniel, prince Carl Philip and princess Madeleine will all attend to the wedding festivities

Great!
So far we have WA and Maxima, the Royal Family of Sweden...anyone else confirmed?

Albert and king Carl Gustaf have a common interest in Scouts organisation.

^Thanks!
I love that couple, MM and Haakon are cute.

ALL RIGHT!!!!

This is FAB news ~ the entire Swedish Royal Family will be there ~ including that foxy goodlooking Prince Carl Philip, lol. :D

Seriously, the more the merrier, I can't wait to see whom else is going. And I think it's great that Albert has invited more than two people apiece. This bodes well for the other royal families out there, mayhap he's even invited entire families! :)

Only thing I was a bit disappointed about was the change of location of the reception. I really wanted to see the Oceanographic Museum, but then when I looked at the pictures of where the locale has changed to, I was literally blown away!!!!! The new location has an equally stunning view of the sea, in fact it looks like the casino is literally floating on the sea if that's possible! :flowers:

I'm so excited to see that we'll have at least one king and queen there!! :D

Ooooh excellent to hear all who are going so far :) Sweden makes sense since they just went to Victorias and Daniels plus PA is a Ruling Sovereign so expecting lots of Kings Queens and royals!!!!!

I just realized that this will be the first House of Grimaldi Wedding of the 21st century, how cool is that!

So in honor of this magnanimous event, I found the following:

And of special note, the following contains a picture of Princess Charlotte and Prince Pierre descending the stairs of the Palace Courtyard on March 19, 1920. The same exact stairs that Albert and his bride will be exchanging their wedding vows on: :flowers:

More wedding pics from Princess Charlotte's glorious 1920 Wedding (btw I'm wondering if Charlene will be wearing anything of Charlotte's for her wedding to Albert, as in "something borrowed" ;) ):

One final note, I think it would be really approprite for Charlene to wear Charlotte's Fringe Tiara, which she inherited from her father, whom inherited it from his mother Lady Mary Victoria Hamilton, whom married Prince Albert I of Monaco on September 21, 1869:

Here's a great article (accompanied with pics) of the history of the Fringe Tiara (the most prolific and popular of its kind; never goes out of style). There's even a pic of the Hanover Fringe Tiara: :)
