Less than a month isn't too long to wait. The kiddos need a bit of time to plump up and lose all their birth wrinkles, etc. I can wait.

Gabriel of course is the Archangel, who can be a better patron saint for the little Princess....
The name appears here and there in the genealogy of the House Grimaldi. The first mention is already in the 14th C:
Charles I Grimaldi, Seigneur de Monaco (*1325)
x
Donna Lucchina Spinola di Dertonne (*1330)
=
Gabriel Grimaldi, Seigneur de Monaco

If I'm not wrong, when Pcs Caroline was born, Pcs Rainier took pics of mum with the new born, without the balcony presentation, but I do not know if these pics have been immediately released, or afterwards.

Did she give birth in the Princess Grace hospital in Monaco? Bacause that is one tiny building? I'm a bit in awe at how small it is tbh.

Small? You were fooled by the entrance of the maternity ward, which is still a separate building. The hospital is a big building (under construction), see: http://www.ingerop.fr/_IMAGES/REAL/m...esse-grace.jpg

yes, presenting the babies outside the hospital is not done by all the families, but most of them, if i recall well. but they are free to choose how to do it obviously. i seem to remember letizia also had c sections and went out to show her daughters to the press some days after the birth. shame they don't do the same in monaco....

I'm sure that Pcs Charlene, when wil be able to properly walk (C section is a real operation), she will leave the maternity and well present her babies, for the moment shw has to rest and recover.
|
i didn't know that happened when MM gave birth... yes, that's inacceptable for the press, specially being the crown princess and her daughter the heir to the heir.

what do you mean valerie? i didn't spot anything in kate's face that day, although thought that it must be slightly overwhelming to present your tiny, newborn son to such an excited crowd... but i don't recall kate looking afraid on that day.

I didn't know that Mette Marit did that either. If Kate and William had done such a thing they would never have heard the end of it from the British Media.
I love the name Gabriella, not so keen on Jacques, but no doubt it will grow on everyone. Princess Charlene often seemed tired and unwell during her pregnancy so I hope she is getting as much rest as she can, and we see the two babies soon.

Carlota - I only noticed at the time on the live coverage, just a brief, almost hunted look, instantly suppressed. My perception on the day, anyway

I remember the day after the birth I couldn't walk without being supported and I thought my stomach was going to split open as soon as I got out of bed so I can imagine how PC will be feeling today. The good thing is that the healing kicks in quite quickly and by the third day I felt much better but had to rest constantly and could only move around VERY slowly.
|
I remember well those first steps after the c-section. I wonder if a larger incision is made for twins.
Any idea how long she will be in?

Foolish of her...that sort of thing creates huge resentment, and the press is expert when it comes to payback!

Within a day or so of the birth of Andrea, a photograph of the infant lying in Caroline's arms in her hospital bed was released. She was gazing into her baby's face as he slept. It was simply beautiful.
The same thing happened when Charlotte was born. There were photographs of the newborn in her mother's arms while still in the hospital.
I remember seeing Pierre for the first time when Caroline was leaving the hospital with him.
The Palace also released photos of Princess Grace within hours of the births of Caroline, Albert and Stephanie.
Not sure if we will see photos of Princess Charlene like that.

I remember Caroline leaving the hospital with Andrea after a few days. I even remember the color of her dress and her father was with her.

I like the name Jack, so I just played there. In English I think it would be more 'Jock'.

I believe Mary and Fred have a good routine for the media when leaving the hospital. The media have plenty of room to spread out and the new parents have lots of space to keep their distance if they so choose. The media get what they want and everyone is happy.

No, Jacques in French sounds remarkably close to Jack in English. Only the first syllable is really audible: " Jacq". Think about Président Jacques Chirac.
