Princess Elisabeth,Duchess of Brabant is due a tiara event :previous:

Cute! Is that a picture from the new book? I wonder why they decided to share this obviously private childhood photo.

My translation: "She always played with Maxima's jewels. [..] She is still crazy for tiaras and knows them of all European royals.":D:D:D Now, this bodes well!

Translation from fellow-poster Marengo, taken out the book about Amalia:

Amalia and Jewels & Fashion

Amalia loves jewelry. “Yaaaa! I love tiaras. Show me a tiara, and I'll know where it came from. I can recognize all the tiaras in Europe. I used to put them on, [stealing them from her mother]. Then there would be a tiara on her make-up table and I would put it directly on my head. I really liked to play with my mother's jewelry anyway. When I was very little. She was preparing for an important dinner and she shouted around the house, "Amalia, where's that ring?"

That promises a LOT indeed. She also stated she LOVES the Sissi movies (picture) and the courtesy displayed in it. It promises to be a second sort of Margrethe II...

Very sweet picture of Amalia. And she is wearing a Dirndl in the photo. Too cute!

Amalia looks very cute, and the Tiara suits her very well ? I think it was mentioned she wore the Tiara, when her mother prepared for an "important Dinner" in october 2012, I guess it was the Luxembourg wedding

I do not think this was when Maxima was getting dressed for the Luxembourg wedding. The pictures seem to be in her dressing room, with racks of shoes in the background, so unlikely to be in a Luxembourg hotel.

Could mean Maxima was trying different ensembles in their palace for the pre-wedding.

In addition to the tiara there was an anecdote about a ring that the princess was wearing:

During a conversation De Breij notices a ring with white and blue stones. It was a gift for her 15th birthday, said the princess. All girls in the family receive a ring from their grandmother. It is a tradition in the family. "You wake up with it on your 10th birthday". The ring was made from stones that belonged to Queen Wilhelmina. That is why the princess was afraid to wear (and lose) the ring. Because of that, on her 15th birthday, she received a simpler ring, which she is not afraid to wear.

The 15th birthday ring:

From the article: https://www.modekoninginmaxima.nl/mode-maxima-mode-algemeen/een-diadeem-voor-amalia

In the article there is some speculation about an 18th birthday tiara. Both Juliana as Beatrix reiceved one. Perhaps the tradition is continued. But the most likely option is of course that the princess will simply use an existing tiara fromt he family collection. On her wedding day Princess Máxima wore a new combination from the collection: the diamond stars mounted on the base of the pearl-button tiara.

I am hoping we will see something unique, Queen Beatrix' five diamond roses on a frame could be an interesting new variation. In the article somebody is suggesting the upper part of the Van Kempen parure, which supposedly still exists as it was seen on an exhibition in the late 90-ties. Though the very last thing the Dutch royal collection needs is yet another tiara with prongs. Another option I would like, would be the ears of wheat being re-arranged on a new frame into a more flattering tiara, perhaps taking the Hesse tiara or alternatively Chaumets ears of wheat tiara as an example.

Diadems or (demi-) parures are not that expensive, that means: when you can buy properties in various countries, speedboats et al, one can buy a diadem, is my idea....

The Princess' aunt Mabel is hard on her way to become a Friso-made billionaire. Without a wink of the eye she can purchase a cassette with jewels. Not to mention the Princess' second cousin Bernhard owning 600 houses and offices, a media park and a Formula One race track...

But somehow I think the Orange-Nassaus will consider the current collection "more than plentiful".

I agree, I would be surprised if a new tiara is acquired for Amalia. Instead, you may see an older tiara reused (Ears of Wheat?), or something altered for her use, not dissimilar to the way the pearl button tiara was altered to accomodate the diamond stars by Maxima.

Now that Phillipe and Mathilde bought a new tiara for Princess Elisabeth, it is possible they will also buy a new tiara for Eleonore as well as Gabriel and Emmanuel's future wives.

Or they can marry someone from the nobility or a foreign royal family who already comes in with a family tiara? Like Princess Astrid, who got to wear her mother-in-law's Savoy-Aosta tiara?

Seriously now, buying as many as 3 new tiaras can be a rather expensive exercise. It will depend a lot on what will be expected of Elisabeth's siblings in the future. I don't expect them to be full-time working royals like Astrid and Laurent.

I agree, buying tiaras for the 3 younger children who are not really expected to be full time working royals does seem like a waste. Personally, I would hope that each of the 3 younger children are bought personal pieces of jewellery that can be regularly used on an ongoing pieces (diamond studs, tennis bracelets, pearls etc), and a larger collection of more precious and bigger jewellery is put together that can be shared primarily between Mathilde and Elizabeth, and when required, some of the other ladies.

Princess Lalla Khadija of Morocco has also been wearing tiaras for a few years. She's 15 years old.

I know there are some other countries where girls wear tiaras before they are 18 but I have to do some more research on that.

Future Queens with access to "Queen" jewllery
Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden (will be a regent queen)
Princess Elisabeth, Duchess of Brabant (will be a regent queen)

Leonor, Princess of Asturias (will be a regent queen)
Princess Estelle, Duchess of Östergötland (will be a regent queen)

They will be regnant queens, not regent queens.

I would love to see Leonor, Princess of Austrias or her sister Infanta Sofia wear one of the tiaras owned by their great aunt Princess Irene of Greece and Denmark.
Princess Irene has Queen Sophie's Diamond Circle Tiara which is the perfect size for a starter tiara. https://royalwatcherblog.com/2018/06/14/queen-sophies-diamond-circle-tiara/
She also has the Greek Pearl and Diamond Necklace Tiara which I don't like as much but its also a good size for a princess https://royalwatcherblog.com/2018/05/11/greek-pearl-and-diamond-necklace-tiara/
Princess Irene never married so I'm hoping she will leave her jewelry to her great nieces, or gift the tiaras to them.

Maybe Leonor will inherit the Ansorena tiara. After all, Letizia has worn that tiara once and that may indicate that she will inherit the tiara.

I actually think it the Ansorena tiara may end up being used by Infanta Sofia. It has some royal provenance by virtue of it being acquired by the then Prince of Asturias, and having been worn once by the Queen. But it does not come with decades of royal lineage, and there would be no major loss if it left the main line.

While I agree Sofia will be the one who using it, I actually want to see Letizia wearing the big diamond Fleur de Lys tiara and Leonor wearing the small pearl Fleur de Lys tiara at same occasion at future.

Despite being over 18 we haven't seen Princess Iman of Jordan in a tiara yet. Now we are looking at 2 royal weddings for the Jordanian Royal family, will they include tiaras?

It would be a good 18th birthday gift

It was never really a queen's tiara ,I think it may well be used by Leonor and Sofia along with the Prussian tiara of queen Sofia.

Given that neither the Prussian nor the Sea foam tiara have been worn by Letizia in this reign, I fear they may have been earmarked for Elena and Christina, who will have no real use for them.
