I do not think this was when Maxima was getting dressed for the Luxembourg wedding. The pictures seem to be in her dressing room, with racks of shoes in the background, so unlikely to be in a Luxembourg hotel.

Could mean Maxima was trying different ensembles in their palace for the pre-wedding.

That is entirely plausible.

In addition to the tiara there was an anecdote about a ring that the princess was wearing:
During a conversation De Breij notices a ring with white and blue stones. It was a gift for her 15th birthday, said the princess. All girls in the family receive a ring from their grandmother. It is a tradition in the family. "You wake up with it on your 10th birthday". The ring was made from stones that belonged to Queen Wilhelmina. That is why the princess was afraid to wear (and lose) the ring. Because of that, on her 15th birthday, she received a simpler ring, which she is not afraid to wear.
The 15th birthday ring:

In the article there is some speculation about an 18th birthday tiara. Both Juliana as Beatrix reiceved one. Perhaps the tradition is continued. But the most likely option is of course that the princess will simply use an existing tiara fromt he family collection. On her wedding day Princess Máxima wore a new combination from the collection: the diamond stars mounted on the base of the pearl-button tiara.
I am hoping we will see something unique, Queen Beatrix' five diamond roses on a frame could be an interesting new variation. In the article somebody is suggesting the upper part of the Van Kempen parure, which supposedly still exists as it was seen on an exhibition in the late 90-ties. Though the very last thing the Dutch royal collection needs is yet another tiara with prongs. Another option I would like, would be the ears of wheat being re-arranged on a new frame into a more flattering tiara, perhaps taking the Hesse tiara or alternatively Chaumets ears of wheat tiara as an example.

Diadems or (demi-) parures are not that expensive, that means: when you can buy properties in various countries, speedboats et al, one can buy a diadem, is my idea....
The Princess' aunt Mabel is hard on her way to become a Friso-made billionaire. Without a wink of the eye she can purchase a cassette with jewels. Not to mention the Princess' second cousin Bernhard owning 600 houses and offices, a media park and a Formula One race track...
But somehow I think the Orange-Nassaus will consider the current collection "more than plentiful".

I agree, I would be surprised if a new tiara is acquired for Amalia. Instead, you may see an older tiara reused (Ears of Wheat?), or something altered for her use, not dissimilar to the way the pearl button tiara was altered to accomodate the diamond stars by Maxima.

Now that Phillipe and Mathilde bought a new tiara for Princess Elisabeth, it is possible they will also buy a new tiara for Eleonore as well as Gabriel and Emmanuel's future wives.

Or they can marry someone from the nobility or a foreign royal family who already comes in with a family tiara? Like Princess Astrid, who got to wear her mother-in-law's Savoy-Aosta tiara?
Seriously now, buying as many as 3 new tiaras can be a rather expensive exercise. It will depend a lot on what will be expected of Elisabeth's siblings in the future. I don't expect them to be full-time working royals like Astrid and Laurent.

I agree, buying tiaras for the 3 younger children who are not really expected to be full time working royals does seem like a waste. Personally, I would hope that each of the 3 younger children are bought personal pieces of jewellery that can be regularly used on an ongoing pieces (diamond studs, tennis bracelets, pearls etc), and a larger collection of more precious and bigger jewellery is put together that can be shared primarily between Mathilde and Elizabeth, and when required, some of the other ladies.

Princess Lalla Khadija of Morocco has also been wearing tiaras for a few years. She's 15 years old.
I know there are some other countries where girls wear tiaras before they are 18 but I have to do some more research on that.
