Thanks for the response, LadyK. You're right, Wallis Simpson would have definitely changed the history of the British monarchy. And based on their behavior, I bet she and Edward VIII would have had some wild parties at Buckingham Palace.

I'll see what I can do with pics of her and the British royal jewels (I'm not too sure that Queen Mary won't claw her way out of her crypt to stop it from happening, though!)

I've reloaded the links that didn't work before so here goes try number two:

they are working and looking great :)

Okay, here's the Princess Olga ones. She was actually engaged to King Frederik IX of Denmark but broke it off. If she hadn't, we would have had a princess of Greece & Denmark sitting on the throne as Queen Olga of Denmark. Here's what she might have looked like in the Danish jewels:

As always, I hope these work.

Assuming that, perhaps Franco would have been more amenable to the relationship between Juan Carlos and Marie Gabrielle of Savoy.

Wow, how beautiful was princess Marie Grabielle of Saboy, and the shell-shaped tiara llooks stunning on her. She really has the regal look to carry off that tiara.

Great work again. It is actually one of my favourite royal stories of the 20th century, the Olga-Frederik break-up, together with the failed engagement of Juliana and Karl of Sweden (or Peter and/or Paul of Greece).

Actually she would not have had the Khedive to wear as that came with Ingrid from Sweden.

As did the ruby tiara, but still it looks great on Olga (but her elegance would even make the swedish Jeep-tiara acceptable probably ;))

You're right, wymanda. I forgot that it was Margaret of Connaught's engagement in Egypt.

Marengo, thanks for the response, also. I looked at what I have and was under the impression that Queen Desiree's ruby parure was originally worn in Denmark by Queen Alexandrine, pre-dating Queen Ingrid, who only embellished the original design. Can you please let me know if that is incorrect? Thanks in advance.

Hope to have my efforts with Wallis up soon.

Actually I automatically assumed it came to Denmark with Queen Ingrid, as she is Swedish. But it could have been Queen Lovisa to of course, am am not to sure now. In the last case it would indeed have been worn by Queen Alexandrine.

The ruby Parure was given to princess Lovisa of Sweden by her grandmother, Queen Joséfine of Sweden when she married the then danish Crown prince Frederik in 1869. Red and White like the danish Flag the Dannebrog. But it was only a loan and when Queen Joséfine died a few years later Lovisa inherited it. The Tiara was given in 1898 to Duchess Alexandrine of Mecklenburg the bride of her oldest son the future Christian X. who inherited the Rest of the parure after the death of his mother in 1926. In 1935 the entire parure was given to princess Ingrid of Sweden when she married the future Frederik IX.

Thanks, Stefan, for the update.

Alright, fasten your seatbelts and put on your coats. Hell may be freezing over (or at least Queen Mary and Elizabeth the Queen Mum may be flipping in their crypts). Here is a look at what might have been if Edward VIII had not abdicated:

Keep in mind that some of the other famous pieces brought to England from and through Queen Mary were gifted to many different members of the British Royal Family. I have, therefore, limited these posts to jewelry worn by the Queen Mum.

I almost feel like I'm preaching blasphemy, but the Duchess of Windsor actually looks attractive in a couple of these. Enjoy!

Here's my two: (I can't do anymore till Sunday, so you guys can do the rest)

Original image (royal jewels forum, as linked by Magnik)

Worn by Mette-Marit (She just wears it best- I tried it on Mary, too, but it didn't work. It wouldn't work on Leti, or Salma, maybe on Rania or Victoria, but it's not Victoria's style, I don't think)

Wonderfully executed Mapper. Mind you, its probably a good thing that the Queen Mum isn't here to see it or it would be off to the tower for you with a cry of

ORF WITH HIS HEAD!!!!!

Dear Mapmaker,

I have been highly amused by your efforts to beautify the maligned and over rated Wallis. I think both the Queen Mother and Queen Mary, neither of whom were to be trifled with, would not be amused. Their common description of Wallis was she was a "low" woman and indeed she was. I have always thought Edward VII was a prize idiot, a case of arrested development who never really quite grew up.

But your efforts are admirable. Some of them of course work much better than others. as for the Honeycomb tiara Wallis would have never been able to wear it even it she had been the queen of England as it was a personal gift from one of the Queen Mum's friends, whose name I cannot at the moment recall, to the Queen Mum, who would have strangled Wallis if she had dared put her hands on it.

We have all been charmed into believing that the Queen Mum was nothing more than a sweet little old lady, well you may dismiss that thought from your mind. Hitller called her the most dangerous woman in Europe. During WWII she did target practice on the grounds of Buckingham Palace and meant it. Charm, yes, but there was steel beneath all the furs and diamonds you may be sure. Besides I think she looks so much better than Wallis. Whatever did Edward VII ever see in the woman.

But given his political ineptitude maybe it was a good thing she showed up on the scene and relieved Great Britain of this potential disaster. Cheers.

Well Mapmaker - it was like looking at a dream. The Duchess of Windsor complete in sparkles. I think the Boucheron Honeycomb Tiara, the George V Diadem and the Indian Ruby Tiara were just made for Wallis - they suit her so well and I think these pics remind us of the unfair way Wallis was treated. These pics leave me in no doubt that Queen Wallis would have been a marvel to behold.
