that's exactly what I was thinking. We know Maxima is sometimes rather extravagant with her fashion choices and she definitely likes sparkling jewellery (who doesn't though LOL) . But this is not the right occasion to wear something quite substantial like the Stuart tiara. She'll have many other occasions when she'll be Queen..

Unfortunately if the Stuart does not come out for an occasion like this, we may never see it.

I am hoping for a complete parure. Queen Beatrix only wore a complete one once, the Aquamarine parure to Denmark. Máxima has never worn a complete parure thus far, but the options would be:
Stuart parure * Better view of the necklace & brooch
Mellerio Sapphire parure * Parure with the bracelet of the Dutch East Indies
Mellerio Ruby parure 1 * Mellerio Ruby parure 2
Apparently the bow brooch of the Stuart parure is very heavy,so heavy that a dress needs some extra support.
----
I am hoping for a complete parure, preferably the Stuart one. I have no idea in what shape it is though, it hasn't been seen in about 40 years. But somehow I think Máxima will go for something more modest since it is her husbands day. I voted the Württemberg pearl tiara as it is still susbtantial but doesn't stand out as much as the Stuart does.

I think she will go with something slightly smaller than the Stuart but I voted for it simply because that tiara is absolutely boss and is as close to a crown as it gets.
It's not the most beautiful, but it sure is the most impressive.

i also voted for the stuart tiara. when i saw the picture i couldn't hide my excitement of seeing maxima in that full parure for the enthronement. what a set!
i also really like Queen Emma's floral tiara, but seeing maxima never wore the stuart tiara, i think she was saving it for a special ocassion and this is definitely one!
here's a great blog post on the history of the stuart tiara:

For her inauguration Queen Juliana didn't wear a tiara, I think. In the videos it looks like she wore some kind of hairnet or headpiece with diamonds. It's hard to see in the photos:
Juliana 1948: Picture, Picture
Does anyone know what Juliana wore in her hair here?
Beatrix wore the small Diamond Pearl tiara:
Beatrix 1980: Picture, Picture
(pictures:anp)
They both wore rather "decent" tiaras/headwear, so it's really hard for me to imagine Máxima would really chose the Stuart tiara. I voted for the Württemberg Tiara , but I start wondering if she'll maybe chose one of the smaller tiaras, like the beautiful Queen Emma Floral tiara or the Pearl tiara or something like this...

It's hard to tell with Queen Juliana but in this picture, it almost looks like she's wearing Queen Wilhelmina's Diamond Haircomb. Then again, I believe there are other diamond haircombs and small tiaras in the Dutch collection (mostly, coming from Wilhelmina as well), so it's hard to tell. She's wearing the devant de corsage from the Melleiro Ruby Parure and her necklace appears to be a combination of rubies and diamonds, so it's a safe bet to say that the hairpiece is either all-diamond, or ruby and diamond as well.
Juliana and Beatrix were Queens Regnant and focal point of the ceremony anyway. Maxima is the first Queen Consort in nearly 123 years so there is no fixed tradition what she can or cannot wear. The Dutch Inauguration ceremony is probably closest to a coronation among the continental ceremonies so I'm hoping for something that will scream "Queen". Or, in other words, I'm hoping for the Stuart.

Is it possible she wore a headpiece (hat) for the actual Inauguration and a tiara-like piece for the official portrait? The headpiece in the portrait looks nothing like the one in the video.

Juliana wore a cap on which several small diamond pieces where placed for her Inauguration. It was made extra for the Inaguaration and taken apart later again. I believe the cap was blue. I have seen it at the Juliana exhibition at Paleis het Loo 4 years ago where they had a copy on display. The necklace she wore was the necklace from the peacock ruby Parure
Of course i hope Máxima will once wear the Stuart Paure i think for the Inaguration it is to big and too much. if she would wear this she be complett in the Center and i think on this days WA as new King should be in the center and not oveshadowed by his wife.

I voted for the stuart, someone mentioned the economic crises, they allready own the thing so it might as well be used. It is fitting for the day and she has never worn it I think.
WA will always be overshadowed in beauty and sparkle by his wife in most couples that is the case

Thanks for the information, Stefan.
I would have loved to see the diamond piece made for Queen Juliana!
In regards to Maxima overshadowing Willem-Alexander, I'm afraid it's more or less inevitable whatever she wears.
That's the fate of all male royals, not just the future King - always being overshadowed by their better halves.

The website of Els Smit says that the hairnet (a 'Juliette') was made of violin strings, that were painted blue. Added were the diamond stars (white) and rubies (red). So the hairnet had the red-white-blue of the flag.

How interesting! Given the presence of the devant de corsage from the Melleiro Ruby Parure and the necklace from the Peacock Ruby Parure, I thought rubies might have been somewhere in the headpiece. Opting for colours of the national flag was a thoughtful touch. I wish there were proper colour photographs of the "Juliette".
I always thought a "Juliette" is basically an ornate hairnet, and not an elaborate headpiece. You always learn something new every day.

You can see the Stuart diademe in this film, which was made at queen Margrethe's wedding. Scroll till the 33:34 minute when Juliana enters the church. SPARKLING.

not sure about the stuart anymore, it is gigantic when you see it in the video above, although maxima deserves to wear any of the tiara's it might be too much.
