I think the Princess of Asturias could probably use some of the existing, smaller tiaras from the collection: the Prussian, the Shell, the Floral or the new Fleru-de-Lys tiara.

Given how sparse the Belgian collection is, I do hope a new and versatile tiara is acquired for the Duchess, that will stand the test of time. Something perhaps of the size and scale of the Laurel Wreath tiara used by the Queen.

Would be still nice to see Leonor with her very own tiara to possibly mark her 18th birthday.

Perhaps Letizia will pass on the Asturias tiara to Leonor. There are also some stories about a tiara Letizia got as Wedding gift but has never worn it. If true perhaps that one will debuted by Leonor.

Otherwise i guess she and Sofia will share the prussian tiara and the floral tiara like it was done by Infanta's Elena and Cristina before the got married.

The first one to me is too much a necklace worn as a tiara and the second would is quiet small when it would be the only tiara like it would probably be for the Duchess of Brabant.

Do we know if Letizia does not like wearing jewellery, or is that just a theory as she tends not to wear much jewellery is Spain over the last decade or so, possibly becuase of the economic and political envirornment.
 
I like most of them, especially if they can be converted to wear as a necklace. Versatility feeds my practical nature.

Alas the Royal Family of Belgium will never buy jewels at Auctions as they did not buy for exemple the small tiara of the Countess of Flanders sold by Princess Marie Gabriella.
When Queen Elisabeth passed away she had more than 70 jewels. Queen Marie José took them sold a lot of them. Her Cartier tiara was for her Son Leopold III and sold after he passed away..
Princess Mary bought a necklace tiara at Bruun Rasmussen , they are friends of the royal Family . They sold Anne Dorte historic tiara to a rich Danish Man.

I agree, the Belgians do not appear keen to supplement the royal jewel box, but all I am doing is pointing out what can potentially be acquired at a reasonable price, and be a useful addition.

Not overly crazy on the tiara and feel it would be more suitable for a Princess, wonderful starter tiara foe Leonor or Sofia of Spain.
Brooches are fantastic can see them on Mathilde or wishful thinking jewel puritan Letizia.

I agree, the tiara is not the largest, and would work well for a young Princess. As mothers of 4 children each, Mathilde and Mary will both do well to add tiara's to their collection to suitably adorn their daughters and daughters-in-law.

That said, both of Mathilde and Mary could do with a diamond necklace, and this convertible tiara could do the job.

Leonor and Sofia have starters tiara at their disposal, which are basically the ones their mother wore as Princess of Asturias, namely the Prussian and the Floral tiaras. Letizia doesn't need either one as she has other "grand" pieces at her disposal (at least four) to wear as queen.


Having said that, I am pretty sure that Leonor will get a new wedding gift tiara, as her mother did. I don't expect her to make many tiara appearances before getting married, but, if she has to, she can rely on one of the aformentioned options.


Sofia's situation will depend on whom she marries. If she marries a Spanish aristocrat, she may get a wedding tiara from her future husband's family just as Infanta Elena got the Marichalar tiara. Otherwise, it is not certain that she will have a gift tiara from the Royal Famlly; her aunt Cristina didn't get any and was in the same position as Sofia.


It remains to be seen how active (or not) King Felipe VI will be in buying back jewelry from collateral branches of his famiy. Any news for example on the fate of the Orléans diamond and sapphire tiara?

I excpect her to attend most State Banquets once she has finished her Studies and the same for her sister.

I agree Sofia will attend State banquets .

I wonder if Infanta Pilar's sapphire tiara will be bought back if its put up for sale?
