New to forum. Watching the royal wedding on TV tonite, each time William saluted while riding in the coach to Buckingham, Katy looked down toward the floor of the carriage. This action was very deliberate on her part. Anybody know the history behind this gesture?

James Whitaker (royal correspondent) interviewed on Australian TV suggests it's just a sign of respect from her towards the person or persons William is saluting.
