Hello from Maryland!
Hello and thank you for allowing me to be a part of your forum. I appreciate your hospitality. Your wealth of knowledge and insights regarding the history and current position of royalty is very impressive.
I am a thanatologist (specialist in death, dying, bereavement and grief) with a PhD in the field. I have joined your forum due to three of my professional interests. The first interest is in the public expression of grief of public figures including members of any and all royal families. The second interested is in the details of royal funeral rituals. The third is in royal burial and memorial locations.
I realize that there may be those that consider my topics a bit morbid and macabre. However I have found through my years of study that how we die and the public /private expressions of grief often speak volumes of how the person has lived. Additionally when studying public grief it often offers an opportunity to appreciate the heart, mind and lives of those who are grieving in a more uncensored fashion. I do not come to judge but to learn and appreciate the diversity of expressions of life, sorrow and love / affection that we have for our public figures / representatives.
On a personal level I enjoy learning more about architecture and furnishings of historical residencies, manor homes, castles, palaces, etc around the world. For me they are windows to the life, thoughts and values of those that built and furnished these magnificent structures.
Additionally I enjoy the beauty and craft in creating the royal gems. They are also easy on the eyes with their beauty.
When my nose is not in a book or the internet I enjoy gourmet cooking, being with friends, exploring new types of coffee and the simple places of nature such as small gardens, a woodland path or local park.
Thank you again for your kind hospitality. I look forward to getting to know you better. If there is ever a way I may be able to contribute to this fine forum please let me know.
Best regards;
Dr. Terrie Modesto

Thank you all so much for the warm and friendly welcome. It's nice to meet all of you. I'm currently focused on Queen Elizabeth's jubilee ceremonies. The pageantry should be outstanding. I want to learn as much as possible this celebration of her life to later contrast many years from now with her funeral.
Personally I am only starting to learn more about Portugal royal history. I am Portuguese American and know nothing of my father's heritage since he died when I was 3 years old.
Hope all have a great week!

Hello Dr. Terrie Modesto, I think it is very interesting the kind of work you do. My mother just pasted away, and hasn't been easy. You must be a very strong person to be able to handle the kind of work you do. I also seek to just know more on the Royal families, for some reason I become fascinated with their lives. Would love to stay in a castle one day, just to see what it feels like, maybe wear one of those big hats the ladies wear, eventually do my own family history, have a feeling their may be some blue blood in family, but if there was, I would stay where I live, just be even more fascinating just to know, but if not, I am fine where I am. I have had a good life with wonderful family who have loved me, and I loved them also. Must always be thankful for our blessings.
