I'll try to contribute as well. Thanks for your encouragement.

The island of Hawaii is my home. Since the State of Hawaii shares the name of this island, and since the island of Hawaii is the state's largest island -- by far -- it's referred to as the Big Island. The Kohala Coast is on the northwest (dry) side.
