THE THEME WAS Spanish MOVIDA
You have to take in consideration the theme of the ball this year. The beginning of this thread explain MOVIDA. Thus we see alot of black and strong colors and more artistic fashions.
I loved Elizabeth's red gown.
I think Princess Caroline's extra piece is what makes the gown stranger than it would be!
Does anyone have a true fashion knowledge of what ladies should wear if you have big shoulders?

Charlene looked really nice tonight. I don't know why Caroline chose that dress it looked terrible. Charlotte's dress was just plain ugly she is way too young to wear such an awful dress. I think they both need to wear other designers.

I agree, Pierre looks great! And on closer inspection, if Caroline's dress was a size smaller or altered to fit Caroline better, I kind of like it for the theme of the event. She always plays up the theme and she does look like she could be a character out of one of the films. I mean that in a good way, I think she was paying tribute here to the whole idea. I think she may laugh when she see's the picture of her a little overly exposed though!  I agree she could have gotten away with the short version, she has great legs! That way she could have taken it up on the shoulders and the bottom part would have hit her in a better place! It looks different in different photo's and for the theme of the event she was probably trying to chose something fun! I would like to see Stephanie at this event too one year, I think she would have done something fun with this theme! Actually although Charlene's dress is probably one of the better one's that she has worn maybe (another halter), it does not really tie into the theme in any way? I just want to say it looks like Pierre get's my nod for the evening though!

i agree with you charlene been there 3 times show she more accept into the family like her mother told the press and these will add more wedding rumor to every newspapper by monday,i think he might married her after all she there to stay. may be they will open the dance floor.

I think that is Charlotte behind Caroline. She appears to have removed that horrible jacket. I would love to see the dress now!

I love that side view of Charotte, because I love how her hair is done. Its never looked prettier. Same for her makeup.

Am I the only one who thinks that Charlotte has gained some weight, especially in her stomach? Or is that just a weird thing the dress does, because that happens often.

V-necks and halters. They visually minimize the shoulders and draw the eye to...other places.

Well Caroline and Charlotte really down played their beauty by wearing dresses that do not do them justice and do not flatter them.....But everyone else looks great!

I am very disappointed this year Rose Ball. Wasn't last year's ball Gypsy theme? It was great theme and quite nice outfits. This year is a disaster. 
Caroline dress was really bad choice. I could see it was sheer not only on the top but also in the middle, there was her belly button and breasts showing, the whole dress was just awful. I think it was the worst dress that Caro ever had. 
Many women's outfits looked just bad.
But Charlotte was a real queen of the ball. Nice hair, make-up and a dress, the outfit made her looking maybe older, but still was OK. The dress looked like something in medieval style and I liked it. 
Charlene looked quite nice, really nice make-up, dress comparing to other women at event, was quite pretty too. Her hair though was too light, too fake looking. But overall she looked pretty.
I saw something strange in facial expression of Albert, Caroline and Charlene, like they were not happy, as if they did not want to be there, especially Albert. Am I only one seeing this?
I don't think that taking Charlene here is a good idea either. Especially after the palace just danied wedding rumours. People will be like what's going on here  and it will not make Princely family looking seriously.

Charlene is beautiful, lovely dress and colour too.

This group is strange. I can recognize Juliette Maillot, Eugenie Niarchos, Melanie, gaia repossi and i've seen gregoire in another photo. Well Charlotte lives in London now, and probably has a number of new friends (at the Independant etc.). This might explain the friends need to 'borrow' a dress, as perhaps her new friends aren't the usual 'very rich young set' who she has been used to socialising with. Maybe her boyfriend had things of his own to be getting on with.
