There are always ravishing bouquets of over 25,000 roses to decorate the Salle des Etoiles in the Sporting d'Eté complex. Press release - http://www.press.montecarloresort.com
ROSE BALL “EN TZIGANIE”
SALLE DES ETOILES - SPORTING MONTE-CARLO
24 MARCH 2007
PRESS RELEASE N°1
Under the Presidency of His Serene Highness The Sovereign Prince and Her Royal Highness The Princess of Hanover, the Rose Ball “en Tziganie” will take place on Saturday 24 March 2007, at 21:00, in aid of the Fondation Princesse Grace.
The Salle des Etoiles will once again host a spectacular visual performance. A real gypsy camp with caravans and campfires will be built on the stage. Artistes will perform with passion, sharing their language and, especially, their culture. The Sporting Monte-Carlo will reverberate with the sound of gypsy violins, punchy guitars, derbouka and cimbaloms.
“La Tziganie”, a faraway and imaginary land where myths and legends abound, is much more than a simple geographic region. A bewitching place which reveals a musical and cultural belonging shared by a mosaic of people known as Gypsies, Romany, Travellers or Children of the Wind.
Wandering throughout Europe, originating from India and Iran, on the borders of Asia, these great travellers leave fascination and seduction in their wake. It is from their complicated history that Rom culture has developed.
It was thanks to the performers and, in particular, the guitarists that the whole world discovered gypsy music. From Jazz to Flamenco, strings, percussion and other instruments, gypsy art is developing continuously. It is first and foremost a joie de vivre and a love for celebration that burst forth from the banjos. In addition to the melodies, these people enjoy a real culture for entertainment.
The show will take place not only on the stage but also all around the audience thanks to an extremely refined décor. The Salle des Etoiles will be decked out in shimmering colours. The tables will be covered with a multitude of fabrics patterned with flamboyant flowers resulting in a magnificent visual and ethnic patchwork. “Baroque Gypsy” vases will be filled with multicoloured roses.
The Rose Ball “en Tziganie” promises to be exhilarating, lively and rich in emotions.
Rose Ball “en Tziganie”
Black Tie – Evening Gown
Dinner with champagne, show, tombola, ball
Price per person: 750 €

Great theme selected! I'm sure Salle des Etoiles will be amazingly decorated, but it would be more interesting to see gala outfits inspired by the theme..at least in fashion accessories! Hope that Casiraghis & Co. will be there too!

I can't wait for pictures. I hope Casiraghi Trio will be there and Stephanie, maybe we will see Pauline and Louis or they are too young?

I seriously doubt we will see any of Stephanie's children at the Balls until they are way over 18 or 21 and ready for the media onslaught.
Stephanie tries very hard to keep her children out of the light which has defaultly fallen on the Casiraghi cousins.
I expect the big question to be regarding Albert's date or lack thereof.
Is this the ball open to most anyone who can afford it?
And Caroline still chooses the themes as Grace once did? This year's motif sounds very interesting in its possibilities, particularly the musical and dressing ones!

I can't wait for the photos either! I will be gone all day Saturday and will be unable to see them until late Sat. night :(. Oh well. I hope the sisters will wear something besides black and white. I want both of them to be in color, not just one of them. (i.e. Red Cross Ball 1997).

Just read this thread memoo. If its anything like the Red Cross Ball last fall, there will be better coverage than the Oscars! Arrivals, inside gossip, departures, and fall-out...all at one click!

Caroline had her first ball at her 16ies, but Charlotte on her 19ies. I think Pauline will have it very late, IF she goes one day.

I do not think that stephanie is there with the ball of the pink, that not made a long time that it does not come there any more. And even if it came I do not think that it is necessary to hope to see Pauline she is too much young

Another press release in english:
Salle des Etoiles - Sporting Monte-Carlo
March 24th, 2007
Under the Presidency of HSH Sovereign Prince Albert II and HRH the Princess of Hanover, the «Bal de la Rose en Tziganie» will be held on Saturday, March 24th, 2007, at 9 p.m. in aid of the Princess
Grace Foundation.
The Salle des Etoiles will bear witness to a new visual achievement. A real gypsy camp will be installed on stage with caravans, camp-fires and performers offering their passion, their language and, above all, their culture. The Sporting Monte-Carlo will echo to the sound of gypsy violins, lively guitars, derboukas and cymbalums.
Reunited and orchestated with the complicity of Tony Gatlif, many artistes will invent a dream world blending languorous musing and impassioned gaiety. The alchemists of this exceptional evening are:
- Biréli Lagrène,
- Chico and the Gypsies,
- Norig and musicians,
- Lucky Losada Bang,
- Fanfare Ciocarlia,
and
the groups :
- Beata,
- Dallas,
- Leonsia Erdenko,
- Nadara,
- Ovidiu.
All these performers will interpret the words of Tony Gatlif, Awarded as Best Director at the Cannes Film Festival 2004 : «Music transports joy, suffering, melancholy and love to the very peak of emotion.» The show will review all the various types of gypsy melodies ; a moment which promises to be wonderfully poetic.
Gypsy music was introduced by its performers and especially guitar players to the entire world. From jazz to the basic elements of flamenco, from string to percussion and other specialised instruments, the gypsy art is a fully-fledged entity which is still in the process of unfurling. Above all, the joy of living and a sense of festivity are conveyed by these banjos. And beyond mere tunes, a real culture of entertainment is proposed by this community.
A distant and imaginary land somewhere between myth and legend, «Tziganie» encompasses much more than a simple geographic region. A spell-binding place which reveals a musical and cultural heritage shared by a mosaic of communities called Tsikaanji, Romnichals, the Travellers or Sons of the Wind.
Wandering all over Europe, arriving from India and Iran, on the borders of Asia, these constant travellers bring fascination and seduction in their wake. It was from their tortuous history, embroidered with many incidents on the way, that the Roma culture finally bloomed.
The show will take place on stage but also all around the audience, thanks to an extremely refined decor. The Salle des Etoiles will be decked out in shimmering colors, the tables covered with a multitude of materials in flowery and flamboyant patterns composing an immense and magnificent
ethnic patchwork. A «baroque gypsy» style will set the scene with many vases full of multi-colored roses.
Stéphane Bern will preside the tombola. The «Bal de la Rose en Tziganie» promises to be intoxicating, gay and rich in emotion.
Bal de la Rose en Tziganie
