She probably doesn't feel it is necessary. After all, they are not promoting a good cause, on the contrary they are promoting a sport that goes even against PA's pronounced convictions (maybe they should have them run in electric cars for a change?) of preserving the environment, by using up heaps of precious resources, just to make big bucks. A demonstration that business and environment seem to exclude each other. Her absence makes her less of a hypocrit. At least she doesn't promote others selfishness. She is there when it is important and when causes that are dear to her are being promoted. She doesn't seem to crave the limelight, so why expose herself to it, when there is nothing good to come out of it.

I have to say that you're right when you say that she simply might not consider this event to be too important for her to go ... so that is perfectly alright. She can decide whatever she wants ... and that's important.

As for the GP itself ... it has always been part of Monaco's scedule... and I hope it stays... it's some alarm once a year and I know how it is with all this noise ... but I just can't think of my Monaco without it.... and I don't even want to

Not to bash Steph, because I agree her presence at the GP is not strictly required, as long as her siblings attend, but I don't agree that she can chose what to support and what not. Her "job" as a member of the Princely Family is to promote Monaco, and it is not her place to chose what to attend and what not. She can chose as long as someone else is there in her place, but otherwise, she'd have to attend whether she likes the function or not.
Plus, the fact that she watches the race privately seems to show that she actually enjoys Formula 1 and doesn't object to its morality. Just my opinion,

That's Maryam Sachs, Alexandra's godmother and best friend of Princess Caroline and Prince Ernst-August

I think that lately, Princess Caroline is beginning to look more like her mother, Princess Grace. Not really features-wise, but her sense of fashion and demeanor. More regal and matronly (which doesn't necessarily mean anything negative, something synonymous with womanly) -- much more accepting and in tune with her chronological age. She seems more comfortable now with a softer look which she also showed when she accepted the UNICEF award in the US. I like it.
