On Tuesday I´ve watched a documentary called the "prince of Monaco" and there I saw (I´ve seen it before, but on Tuesday again) that the coffin of Grace was open (with open cover) laid out. What was the reason for that? I can´t remeber that any other royal or noble was laid out this way in the last 50 years.

I'm not 100% sure but I think that she was with Princess Grace when the accident happen so probably she was still at the hospital or getting better at home.

Yes, she was with her mother in the car and had severe injuries. I wonder if it would have been possible to wait until Stephanie had recovered. But likely the law doesn´t allow to wait with burials that long (you could just wait with a cremation). But it must be horrible for Stephanie, that she couldn´t participate in the funeral of her mother.

Thanks for adding those pics. I think Stephanie stayed next to her father in the hospital. Charlotte looks good in these pics and it seems that Caro wore the mantille she always wears to funerals :(

That was a very sad and shocking moment not only to The Monaco Royal Family but to the world. Princess Grace was and still is loved very much by her family and her loyal fans no one thought that something that horrible would happened to Princess Grace begin that she was young , talented, beautiful , elegant, kind , and also a loving mother and a devoted wife. A wonderful life ending in such tradegy.

I learned Grace's injuries were so severe she would never wake from her coma, so Rainier, Caroline and Albert decided to "pull the plug".
That if Grace had been taken to a hospital right when she had the stroke and/or aneurysm, she might have lived but the car crash and treatment delay (they were almost invisible off that road even in a car) made her death so "inevitable" there was no choice as Grace would never have woken up.
I think they made the right choice (having gone through that with a grandparent myself) but its still wrenching.
