Whenever possible, royals should be permitted to mourn in private, including the good-byes. Especially so when it's a young, tragic death like this. Obviously, this is not always feasible, such as when a head of state passes.

I don't speak Spanish. Does this story confirm that the funeral services will be private. Has this been confirmed by the Royal Court?

You stated that very well. As a parent I totally agree with you about Beatrix - absolutely and unimaginably painful for a children to predecease a parent. I can't even imagine the pain she is going through.

Beatrix has never appeared to me to have fully recovered from the loss of Prince Claus, and then after the accident with Friso there was something about her that has been different. It's in her eyes. Even at happy occasions like the wedding of HGD Guillaume last fall I noticed it. Her heart is broken.

I was not at all surprised when she abdicated.

There are no words for the terrible loss the Dutch Royal Family has suffered.

To see the beloved husband, father, son and brother going into peace is very hard. Let's hope that he will protect his family as a guardian angel from now on.

The Spanish press has reported that it will be private, with only family.

I have lost an adult child. There is no way to recover from it, that I have found. I also saw the sadness in Beatrix's eyes.

Officially no news yet concerning funeral arrangements,

more than 20000 people have left messages on the online condolence-registers in one day... must be a great support for the family that so many people all over the world are expressing their sympathy and thinking of them in these difficult times...

Yes, announced at 6 PM, his funeral wil be in the village of "Lage Vuursche" (near Baarn, where he grew up), and he will be buried at the local cemetery.

Several members of the dutch royal family are buried in the family tomb in the Nieuwe Kerk in Delft, but he is not a member of the royal house anymore.. i also think the family will have a lot more privacy in Lage Vuursche...

I'm quite surprised he won't be buried in the royal crypt.
