Any idea what time the funeral will take place?

Mabel has been amazing to me these past 18 months. I was never a big fan of hers starting with the controversy surrounding her marriage to Friso. I thought it(the marriage) was going to be a disaster for the House of Oranje-Nassau.

How wrong I have been....now I know. Never judge a book by it's cover.

In the afternoon, but in the Netherlands a specific time has not been confirmed. Dutch media reports that the website of the Norwegian monarchy has a time of 15:00 (so i wouldn't be surprised if that is the case)

Beautiful photos and a privilege to be able to have them shared with us.

Sure Mabel has wonderful memories which right now must seem to be so bitter sweet. A great love between all four of them, but more so between Mabel and Friso. Really think they were soul mates, connected on a very higher level than many.....

Thank you for being honest. I too was not a Mabel fan, but after seeing her demeanor and character these past several years, especially the past 18 months, I have the utmost respect for her. All of Beatrix's daughters-in-laws are true gems. She hit the jackpot with all of them.
Many prayers and thoughts go out to Princess Mabel and her daughters, along with the Dutch Royal family.

I'm sure someone in the British royal family, is aware that that Johan Friso and Mabel married and had children. What their names are, where they live, how the grew up etc I doubt anyone knows that. Especially William and Henry who have had little interest or contact with any foreign royals.

I am afraid I was in your and Moodmaiden's camp re: Mabel too. How you really cannot judge a book by its cover. And yes Beatrix has wonderful dils but I also see that she would not have reaped such love and affection from them w/o love and welcome on her part.

Imo this is highly unlikely... The girls have close relatives in the Netherlands, they have several godparents (royal and non-royal).
P.William and Harry are also of quite a different generation than P.Friso and his wife (and as mentioned, the english royals don't seem to mingle very much on an informal basis with the royals from the european continent...)

this article mentions that mathilde and philippe and frederik and mary were close to friso, and will most likely attend.

felipe, who was close to friso, will not be able to attend, he will be in paraguay for the inauguration of the new president.

El príncipe Felipe no podrá asistir al entierro de su amigo Friso de Holanda - Noticias de Casas Reales

i suspect some luxembourg royals will attend as well.

Sincere condolences to the Dutch RF - especially Beatrix, Mabel and their daughters. As Queen Elizabeth said after the 9/11 attacks, "Grief is the price we pay for love." Prince Friso was loved, and now his memories and the love he gave will sustain his family....may God bless them....

It is a parent's worst nightmare. Nothing worse IMO. Poor Beatrix. I saw a clip earlier today from Prince Claus's funeral, Friso was sitting next to her, and he moved his arm, grasped her hand and comforted her. God, the poor woman.

That is very true, but at the same time it would remind her of the child that is not there. I am totally NOT disregarding your comment or criticizing you - you have made an excellent point!!

At some point-it depends on the person-you have to come to some kind of closure-thru religion, from your family or whatever gets you through the day. Or grief will eat up inside. beatrix still has a loving family and they can lean on each other and that is a huge balm to her.
