IHA released a ~2-minute video and photos for Prince Hisahito's 11th birthday on the 6th, see Asahi. Video and photos were taken on August 14th.

Currently in 5th grade at Ochanomizu University affiliated elementary school, Prince Hisahito’s interest in nature remains high. He belongs to the cultivation committee at school, caring for flower beds, while continuing efforts at Akasaka Estate’s vegetable and rice fields. He had field trips in May to watch sumo; the Prince went on a 3 day, 2 night camping trip around Lake Shirakaba in Nagano Prefecture in late August. He also visited Lake Biwa and a traditional brush shop with his parents in August.

Prince Akishino's household is expected to increase from about 20 to 50 staff upon Emperor Akihito’s abdication. Besides budget increases, Prince Hisahito’s childcare system will be strengthened.

I think next year will be the last time his mother accompanies him. Princess Aiko made birthday greetings alone once she turned 13.

According to the Imperial Household Agency, the prince maintains a keen interest in nature and is a member of a student committee in charge of gardening around the school. His duties include watering flowerbeds.

Hisahito also enjoys growing vegetables and rice at his parents' Akasaka Estate in Tokyo.

In May, he visited Ryogoku Kokugikan in Sumida Ward in a school trip to watch a sumo tournament held there. The occasion allowed him to sample, along with his classmates, a “chanko” hotpot meal that is the mainstay diet of sumo wrestlers.

In late August, he had his first sleep-over school trip, spending two nights in Nagano Prefecture by Lake Shirakabako.

Agency officials said he cooked rice in mess tins over an open fire with his classmates.

From September 14-15th, Princess Mako is in Tajimi, Gifu Prefecture for the International Ceramics Festival Mino ’17. 500 people greet her arrival at Taijmi station with messages of congratulations and well wishes. She seemed a little embarrassed, covering her face, when someone asked to give best regards to Mr. Komuro. Besides attending the festival, she also visited the city's mosaic tile museum and the festival's exhibition.

Princesses Mako, Kako and Prince Hisahito Current Events Part 2: May 2017 -

You're welcome! We'll be seeing Princess Mako quite a bit before her marriage. There's a bunch of pre-wedding rites and visits to shrines and ancestors, Emperor Akihito's birthday, New Year's greeting & reception, etc. Hopefully there'll be a state visit before next fall.

Princess Mako opened the "International Ceramics Festival Mino '17" on the morning of the 15th in Tajimi, Gifu Prefecture. She is honorary president of the festival and said "I hope that this festival will play an important role in the creation of new ceramics industry and culture, [and] international exchange through ceramics will spread."
