Princess Astrid was really beautiful and so happy.
Sad and silly, Prince Laurent did not want to be pictured!
He has bad days actually and I think Princess Astrid did not want his mourning face on the picture of such a real happy Event.

Gosh, why is he so moody!!!!!

She will be not only Princess of Belgium but Archduchess of Habsbourg-Este.
he highest titled Princess as she is royal and imperial !

Prince Amedeo's full style is quite a mouthful : 'His Imperial and Royal Highness Prince Amedeo of Belgium, Archduke of Austria-Este, Prince Imperial of Austria, Prince Royal of Hungary and Bohemia'

Has it been confirmed that his future wife will be a Princess of Belgium?

I think she will be a Princess of Belgium but if she is not created one in her own right she be Princess Amedeo.

No ring?
Which one is her mother? The lady in the suit or the tall lady with the scarf and trousers?

Her Mother is in black with a white shirt .
Queen Paola was in black and white , not flattering but the Dowager Archduchess of Habsbourg Este looked great with a light grey jacket and a wonderful cachemir scarf.
I wonder if Princess Astrid white and black jacket was from Chanel.

I thought so too marie-olivia, it looked in the style of Chanel at least. It must be nice for Amedeo's Italian grandmothers that he is getting married to an Italian.

That's true, I'd forgotten about Claire and Felix, Imre and Kathleen and Christoph and his wife. The reason why I was unsure was because Mathilde married Philippe in Belgium, but that's probably because she is The Queen. :)

Well where would they have married? Mathilde is from Belgium, she was born in Ucce, which is part of Brussels. She is the first Belgian born queen. So even if it would not have been a bit unusual if the heir to the throne did not marry in the country where he would reign, his wife is from Belgium. She grew up on her family estate in the Luxembourg province of Belgium.

:previous: Well, I wasn't sure whether Mathilde had grown up in Poland or Belgium in my previous post. So I thought that another option for them could've been a wedding in Poland. As I said in my first sentence, that was an old post of mine which was made before I was corrected about Mathilde being Belgian.

Wonderful news. Astrid and Lorenz look absolutely beside themselves happy, the whole family (families) does. Very nice looking couple, the moment I saw her I thought she reminded me of Astrid. And I barely recognized Queen Paola, that white hair threw me for a loop, although I will say that it is a beautiful color.

There's a ring but there's no got picture of it, they didn't show it off.

if you look at her left hand in this picture you can see a ring:

I believe her mother is the woman in the black suit.

I was wondering about the ring too, thanks for the photo, dbarn67. I hope we'll be able to get a close up, I would like to see what jewel it is. (Looks like a diamond from the photo, but I can't tell as it's quite far away.)

That's what I was thinking Stefan also,I'm sure we'll find out more information in due course.

Congratulations to the very happy couple and their families. Another royal wedding this year; how exciting. I was wondering if Lili had a profession and was glad to see that the Hello article mentioned she's an arts and culture journalist for Bloomberg.

I'm quite sure the very catholic Astrid and Lorenz actually wished they didn't live together for so long without being married and are really relieved now ;)

Was there a reason given for Queen Fabiola's absence? It is a pity she isn't there, esp. since her house Stuyvenberg should be 1 minute on foot from Astrid's villa Schonenberg.

I am sure She was inside as our former Cardinal Danneels who was invited too.
To morrow Holy Mass in the Church of Laeken for our deceased Royals. Will She attend ?

I was always fascinated by the non-reigning royals, the way they keep their traditions with so much honor and dignity, decades after the loss of their thrones. And Prince Amedeo is part non-reigning, as he's an Archduke of Austria-Este.[/QUOTE]

But not reckognized as such in Austria because they abolished all royal/ imperial and aristocratic titles after WWI. Titles like "Archduke" died (sadly) with the monarchy in 1918.
Even Austrias last emperor´s son Otto von Habsburg was simply referred to as "Otto Habsburg" in his homecountry.

Do not despair! There are a few European princes of marriageable age who remain unengaged:

1. Albert, 12th Prince of Thurn und Taxis, is 30 years old.
2. Prince Henry (Harry) of Great Britain is 29 years old.
3. Archduke Alexander of Austria, son of Archduke Carl-Christian and Archduchess Marie-Astrid, née Princess of Luxembourg, will turn 24 in September.
4. Prince Amedeo's own brother, Prince Joachim, turned 22 this past December.
5. His cousin Prince Sébastien of Luxembourg will turn 22 in April.

And of course there's Pierre Casiraghi, although he's not really a prince. Those are the ones that come to mind at the moment; there may be others I'm forgetting. So, you see, you may dry your tears!

Pierre C. is not "really not" a prince, he definitely isn´t!
No. 1 (sexy) unmarried prince for me is Prince Philippos of Greece!!!
Nr. 2 Carl Philip, still not engaged, of Sweden.

And he's also a Prince of Belgium a Reigning family & 6th in the Belgian line of succession.

C'mon girls, there are some sexy Princes outside of Europe too. :p

Now, some South American treasures :p:

Eudes and Guy de Orleans e Bragança, they are not royals per se, but their father is a Prince.

Sadly, Eudes is married and a father of two lovely twins.

And their first-cousin, Prince Rafael, who isn't sexy, but very cute.

But he has a girlfriend, Talita Vaccaro:

Thanks for the crop of the ring. From what I can see, it looks like an older setting.

Prince Rafael is the complete opposite of cute.

But congrats to the couple. Kind of young but they're pretty religious? And she does kind of look like Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy, which is always a compliment.

We'll have to agree on disagree, because I think His Royal Highness is very handsome young man, with those deep blue yes.
:flowers:

But this is not the right place for such a discussion. Prince Amedeo and his beautiful fiancé are the focus here.

I think the palace already announced she won't be there, I read that somewhere a few days ago. The dark winter weather sure isn't good for her health either. And I wonder if she retiered completly, I don't think she has the strength to attend National Day any longer but I hope to see her during the Queen Elisabeth Competition sessions.

No Mara, She was not to-day at the Mass for the Royal deceased and gave the presidency of the famous Queen Elisabeth Competition over to our actual Queen.
Sorry, but out of topic

It was a wise move to hand over the presidency, it's too exhausting and Mathilde is a worthy successor. But I still hope to see Fabiola and Mathilde next to each other there, perhaps at one of the shorter afternoon sessions or so.

To get back on topic: I hope Fabiola will be able to be part of Amedeo and Lili's wedding festivities, I'm sure it would mean a lot to her. I wonder if there will be a civil wedding in Brussels, would be nice.

It always strikes me how different people judge the looks of the Royals! Good-looks really seem to be in each individual´s eye...
I personally would never call Elisabetta "beautiful". She seems to be a very nice girl, pretty if you will. I think Amedeo looks much better than she, as far as you can compare the looks of a man and a woman.
I think he and his youngest sister are the pretty ones of the family.
Elisabetta, as well as the hereditary princess of Luxembourg are no rare beauties (like Pr. Felix´wife for instance), but they seemed to have found true love and might be regarded as very pretty by their (future) husbands and that´s what counts.
