The couple moved to London in the summer of 2018. They were set to be there for a year (not sure when they officially returned). He was studying at the royal college of defense, and she took some extra studies at Sotheby's to help with some of her patronages.

I am so thrilled for the couple. I have been hoping for such news :flowers:

Glad another of my 2019 predictions came true. Was starting to think none of the remaining would be fulfilled.

Such a wonderful time for both families. Nice they have moved into Jean's old home in preparation for the birth as well. Happy news to end a sad year.

Glad I logged in during my coffee break. Great news for the day.

They returned from London in August-late August 2019. Which, if the baby is coming in May-is the month he or she was conceived.

Mission accomplished. ;)

Mbruno I don't know about Mary. But Charlene's father spilled the beans very soon after the Palace announcement.:whistling:
If I remember correctly, they announced straight away that Mary was pregnant with twins.

Wow that's about the best news I've heard all year. Congratulations to HGD couple. They will make wonderful parents.

This is such wonderful news! It is clear that the couple was hoping to have a child for a long time but unfortunately it took about 7 years before they were able to announce this wonderful news.

It's also quite clear from the wording of the announcement: I don't remember any other pregnancy announcement starting with the grandparents being 'immensely pleased' to announce - the whole family will have followed their struggle from nearby so all will share even more in their joy now they look forward to welcoming a little one into the world in May next year.

My hinge is that also the HGD's words of "already waited a long time for this moment" is a reference to the years of 'waiting' and probably almost giving up hope that they would be blessed with a child.

Edit: I looked up the communiqué for the announcement of Claire's first pregnancy; and in their case they used 'great joy' (ont la grande joie (for F&C) vs ont l’immense joie (for G&S)).

Aw, congratulations to Guillaume and Stephanie! This is fabulous news and makes a nice refreshing change from the political - and royal - mess we've been hearing mostly in the UK.

Oh this is absolutely fantastic news! I couldn’t be more happy for people I don’t know.

I feel the exact same way! I had a huge grin on my face when the notification popped up on my newsfeed :D

Wonderful wonderful news,i had my suspesion during the Duchess last visit to Morocco..
So happy for them.and i wishe Duchess Stéphane easy and blessful pregnancy

They were married in October of 2012, so it's been seven years between wedding and first pregnancy? Not unheard of to go seven years before becoming pregnant with the first child, especially with the pressure there was on them to have a child. Maybe they relaxed enough living in London and away from the pressure that they were able to conceive naturally. Or maybe they did avail themselves of better fertility specialists. Whatever the reason, I'm delighted for them, and hope all goes well.

Best not to spread the myth that 'relaxing' is what is needed when people don't get pregnant. While some fertility issues are unexplained the majority has an identifiable medical issue behind it; and relaxation does nothing to for example unblock tubes.

If I had seen the picture of her with a yellow coat I would have guessed ! Very very happy for them !

I am really delighted to learn this news and wish for a healthy and happy mother and babe.

Stephanie is glowing in those pictures. So happy for them.

I am exceptionally pleased to hear this news - it's wonderful news and I think they will be fabulous parents. Congratulations to them!

Perhaps being away drone "home" took some of the pressure off or they may have visited specialists. Their relative anonymity allowed them to relax even though he was on a course and, if I am not wrong, being in London allowed Stephanie to pursue her interests.

Nobody is intimating that their "relaxation" cures fertility problems. Quite the reverse in fact.

Congrats from my heart. Bravo. I started believe that after almost 7 years it will never happen. Wonderfull news, I wish all the best for the mum and the baby to come.

I would say it is quite likely that they ddi make use of fertility treatment in London.. since it has been quite a long wait and they clearly did wish to have a family...

Unfortunately some do. I was quoting a post that literally stated 'Maybe they relaxed enough living in London and away from the pressure that they were able to conceive naturally.' And even you start your own post with 'perhaps being away from 'home' took some of the pressure off' of they visited ... - which (probably unintentionally) implies that 'less pressure' and 'relaxing' might have solved fertility issues (being presented as an alternative to visiting a specialist); further promoting this myth.

For some ppl it does resolve those issues.

Please share the data/research.

Until those data are presented; it might be best to stick to the advice provided here (and yes, I know nobody is talking or has been talking to the HGD couple directly but what is shared here and in other places does get to people struggling with these issues and the last thing they need to 'hear' are these counterproductive messages).

Just a short article demonstrating this...I have first hand info from my own MIL who tried 10 years to conceive without success (worrying more as each year passed). They finally gave up and adopted a child. She was pregnant with my SIL when they received my oldest BIL (adopted)....and had 6 more pregnancies within the next 10 years.

You can do your own research...there is a ton of info out there.

You are correct, there is a ton of info out there about how "relaxing" can do a world of good for a woman who is worried or upset about not getting pregnant. My mother is an example. She was married for 10 years before finally having her first babies (twins) and then she managed to have a total of TEN, including another set of twins.

Anyway, congrats to Stephanie and Guillaume. They appear to be very happy together and this baby will make them even happier, I'm sure. Here's hoping for a very dull and uneventful pregnancy for Stephanie and a healthy baby in the end.

Yes, It may happen at times that "relaxing" helps and someone gets pregnant naturally.... but generally, if there are fertility problems it will result form a particular phsyical cause.. and some kind of medical or surgical treatment will be necessary.

What wonderful news! Very happy for them!

well isn't this fantastic news for the luxembourg family! it was one of my predictions in the 2020 predictions thread and it seems that i already got one right!

i cannot wait to hear the news of the birth in may.

indeed. all of the options (relaxing, anonymity and consulting good specialists which in london are numerous) may have contributed to the great news. it has been 7 years so no doubt family was in their minds for a long time.

Congrats to the happy parents! Can't wait to meet the little one! I'm truly happy for them, and I wish Stephanie the very best, to her and her baby's health!

About "relaxing" and such. It's not a cure, but it sure helps. Without diving into physical problems, "relax" does help if one is under stress. Stress can be very harmful to one's health, and I'm not just talking about fertility, I'm talking about everything else. But, who knows what was the real cause for this wait? Well, none of that matters anymore. In the end, they triumphed. I wish them the greatest happiness in the world, they certainly deserve it!

Wow one good news before the end of this decade! Congrats to the couple!

Such a wonderful news! So happy for them. Wising a safe and healthy delivery!
If they really had trouble conceiving wish they would come forward and talk about it. It is so many couples straggling with this issue that it would help t other people to talk their experience!

I can actually see both sides. For example, the late Queen Fabiola had a severe uterine abnormality that prevented her from carrying a child inside her body for nine months. All the relaxion in the world would not have helped. Poor Fabiola, RIP.

But the cases of women who have tried desperately to conceive for years and given up and started their families via adoption...only to fall pregnant almost immediately...are too numerous to ignore.

Once they stopped stressing out and trying so hard it seems to happen for them right away.

However it went down in Luxembourg, i am so thrilled for them. Guillaume seemed almost giddy, i thought he might turn a somersault.

Stephanie was more composed, but is radiating so much pure happiness it's almost as if she has lit candles and lamps inside her now, as well as a growing baby.

I can't wait for this baby, i feel even more excited than i did for the Monaco twins and i was giddy then LOL! With Beatrice's wedding and the Lux baby to look forward to, 2020 is shaping up to be a banner Royal year.

So relieved to finally get happy Royal news.If I never see the name EPSTEIN again on any Royal messsage board/blog, it will be too soon.:ermm:

The topic is about the official announcement of the pregnancy of the Hereditary Grand Duchess.

Those who feel the urge to speculate how the pregnancy came about can use other social media outlets to do so. They can not use this thread for such speculations. More posts on the topic will be deleted.

It's such great news! May is a wonderful time to have a baby.

I'm a little surprised Guillaume and Stephanie were only in London for a little over a year. When it was first announced it sounded as though they would be there for some time, although I can imagine they want to settle back in before their baby arrives.
