Guillaume and Stéphanie: Picture Thread

I think if you look at them, you can see love. She is a highly educated and intelligent woman. I doubt she was desperate to marry anyone she didn't care for. He is a wonderful young man. If it were arrange, which I doubt, they did a good job.

Stephanie belongs to a high social level, she is is perfectoy educated, nice and would make a perfect HD. The same rumour existed when Pcs Philip married Mathilde, ane 15 y after it is still love between them. When 2 people come from the same social level and they have the same values and education, immediately bad rumor starts, as if it was impossible to fall in love with someone armoniousely accorded to...
Love can exist between non similar people, but not only.

It's good to see they look happy together considering that the general consensus prior to their wedding was that they had an arranged marriage.

If Henri and Maria Teresa's marriage was not arranged, why on earth would anyone think Guillaume and Stephanie's was?

Exactly. Guillaume and Stephanie dated for about two years prior to their engagement.
Even though their fathers are 7th cousins, did Guillaume and Stephanie frequently see each other when they were younger?

No, my understanding of their story is that they first met at a party in 2002 when Guillaume was in a relationship with a niece of Queen Sonja of Norway. They had no contact with one another again until 6-7 years later when, according to an interview at the time of their engagement they saw one another again in Germany in the fall of 2009 at a gathering given by mutual friends. They quietly dated for two years and announced their engagement in the spring of 2012.

As I mentioned a few posts above, I have seen a photo of the two of them taken in the summer of 2011 in Lebanon. They were attending the wedding of a mutual friend and were quite obviously a couple at that point.

Because most of the heirs have married non-aristocrats I think many people assumed Guillaume would do the same and were taken by surprise when he didn't. Combined with the fact that the relationship was conducted in almost total secrecy/privacy and the engagement seemed to come out of nowhere, people assumed it was an "arrangement". The same thing happened when Philippe of Belgium announced his engagement to a noblewoman.

I doubt their marriage is an arranged one. The Luxembourg family is too modern to even consider such a marriage.

:previous: I have to wonder from whence these odd ideas about arranged marriages originate;

King Philippe and Queen Mathilde.

Prince Laurant and Princess Claire.

Prince Frederik and Princess Mary; not allowed to marry his (Danish) true love and having to settle for Mary.

Prince Albert and Princess Charlene, good grief, not only was it an "arranged" marriage, but he had to hold her prisoner until the wedding . . . :ROFLMAO:

And now we have HGD Guillaume and HGD Stephanie! What an incredibly fertile imagination the media have, although I have to admit, they all do look the very picture of misery when they are together . . . :p Not!

:previous: So true. But in the case of Guillaume and Stephanie the first and only place I have ever heard the arranged marriage theory put forth was online, on message boards.:whistling: Both Guillaume and Stephanie have explained in detail how they met one another.

:previous: Just one look at Guillaume and Stephanie together and you know it's magic. :flowers:

These are great pictures, Princess Stephánie has a quite beauty about her, they're very photogenic!

Both play the piano, it was said at the time of the engagement Stephanie plays and is a fan of classical music.

That wedding was amazing. Stephanie was one spectacular Royal bride for sure, tied with Queen Maxima for #2 on my "Best Royal Brides" list.

I can't believe it's been 4 years already.:whistling:

She was, and watching that video of the civil ceremony, so heart-warming. :flowers:

Curious, whose your number#1 royal bride, Moonmaiden?

:previous: Lovely photo of Gui/Stephanie...is it recent? What is the translation?

Sorry for the late reply. The other photo's text roughly translates to "At night, we like to enjoy our home and cook together. My wife is a specialist in Flemish carbonnade. And I cook Cuban dishes from time to time" (Google translation)

The tweet was posted October 2016.

:previous: I adore good Cuban food and thankfully there are some wonderful places to enjoy it here in Southern California.

But what is Flemish carbonnade??:ermm:

:previous: Mmmm....that sounds unusual but delicious. Thanks Skippy! ?
